Fountaine Pajot Yacht Charter

Jean-François Fountaine and Yves Pajot met at the 1976 Montreal Olympics — one a Half Tonner world champion, the other a Flying Dutchman medallist — and started building racing dinghies near La Rochelle the same year. Multihulls followed: the Royale trimaran, then Charente Maritime, a 20m catamaran that won transatlantic races through the early 1980s.

About the shipyard

The Louisiane 37 of 1983 was the turn towards cruising and the yard's first series catamaran. Ninety were built.

That racing lineage is still legible in the product. Fountaine Pajots sail noticeably better than the cruising-catamaran average — finer hulls, less weight, more attention paid to the rig — and the MY power range applies the same hull thinking without a mast, burning considerably less fuel than a monohull motor yacht offering the same accommodation.
