For December to April departures, booking 6 to 12 months ahead is strongly recommended, Tobago Cays mooring permits and popular catamarans with shallow drafts fill their schedules early. Shoulder-season charters in November and May can sometimes be arranged with 8 to 12 weeks’ notice, particularly when vessels reposition between the Grenadines and the wider Windward Islands.
Most Grenadines charter yachts carry paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, and a floating swim platform as standard. Larger motor yachts and superyachts often add jet skis, SeaBobs, inflatable slides, and diving compressors. The Tobago Cays offer some of the Caribbean’s best turtle snorkelling, and your charter specialist can arrange guided dives and spearfishing excursions on request.
The Grenadines chain runs from St Vincent in the north to Grenada in the south, making extensions in either direction natural and seamless. St Lucia lies roughly 34 nautical miles north of St Vincent, while Grenada is about 60 nautical miles south of the Tobago Cays. A 10 to 14-day charter can cover the full chain plus one or both bookend islands for a comprehensive Windward Islands experience.
A luxury catamaran of 58′-65′ with four en-suite cabins is ideal for 8 guests in the Grenadines, the shallow draft provides access to reef-protected bays and mooring fields that deeper vessels cannot reach. For more interior volume and faster passages, a motor yacht of 80′-90′ is an excellent alternative, though it may need to anchor further out at some of the shallower cays.
Yacht charter Grenadines scatters your itinerary across a 60-mile arc of 32 islands and cays stretching south from St Vincent to Grenada, a chain so perfectly spaced that each morning’s sail delivers a new island by lunchtime. The Grenadines are the Caribbean at its most elemental: the Tobago Cays’ horseshoe reef glows in bands of jade and sapphire over white sand; Mustique’s hillside villas peek through bougainvillea above Macaroni Beach; Bequia’s Admiralty Bay fills with wooden schooners and the smell of grilled catch of the day drifting from waterfront barbecues. The charter fleet here numbers over 50 vessels, including motor yachts of 68′-98′, superyachts above 100′, and luxury catamarans from 55′. Peak season runs December through April, with trade winds of 15 to 20 knots and water temperatures around 27 °C; November and May bring shoulder-season tranquillity with lighter winds and emptier moorings.
Daily rates start from $5,600 on a luxury catamaran and from $10,200 on latest-model yachts above 89′, plus APA of typically 25 to 35%. The Grenadines’ defining appeal is pure, unhurried island-hopping, a cruising ground where the distances are short, the reefs are pristine, and every sunset is framed by a different silhouette on the horizon.
