Windkind Luxury Catamaran

Folding wings on the port and starboard sides of Windkind's aft deck open out into balconies that widen her dining area, and a beach club and a swim platform give her guests a low, easy step into the water. She is a Fountaine Pajot Thira 80, an 80ft (24m) luxury catamaran built in 2026, with a door leading from the saloon straight onto the foredeck and double doors aft onto the dining and lounging area, so her main deck opens at both ends.

Water toys

Eight kinds of toy travel with her. Two Seabobs and two eFoils put two riders on each at a time, a wing foil, paddleboards and a wakeboard cover the board sports, and towable inflatables, fishing gear and snorkelling gear make up the rest, so a party of ten has a way into the water at whatever pace suits them, from being pulled hard to floating still with a mask on.

Where she cruises

Windkind's home port is Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, and she keeps a second base in Sardinia, with France and Italy on her list beside the Caribbean. There she works the Leeward and Windward Islands, the British Virgin Islands themselves, the USVI, St Martin, St Barths and Anguilla among them, and what a run of islands gives a guest is a fresh shoreline to swim and snorkel from and a shore close at hand to go to.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep ten guests, a master and a VIP each on a king bed and three more cabins on queens, each of them with its own bathroom, air conditioning and storage for a week's clothes, and by day she can carry twelve. Four crew look after them, each with an en-suite cabin of their own below deck, and her diary is fullest from December through March and again in July and August.

Comfort under way

Windkind cruises at 9 knots and tops out at 10, using 120 litres of fuel an hour, and on two hulls she stays level rather than heeling, so the deck under way feels much as it does at anchor.

On deck

Broad loungers rather than nets make the foredeck a place to lie in the sun, and sunken sofas and the deck jacuzzi sit up there with them. Aft, sofas frame the deck with seating apart from the dining table, and the flybridge has seating of its own and a dining table too, so ten guests have more than a single table to sit at.

Charter notes

Windkind is hired by the week for a party of up to ten, two couples or a family, and with the galley up on her main deck the chef cooks in view of the guests rather than out of sight, so the making of each meal becomes part of the week aboard instead of something that happens below.
