The advance provisioning allowance (APA) for Nassau-based charters is typically 25 to 35% of the base charter fee. It covers fuel, food, beverages, marina dockage, and any off-yacht excursions arranged by the crew. Your captain tracks all APA expenditure transparently, and any unused funds are refunded in full at the end of the charter.
Nassau is an excellent family-friendly charter base. Calm, shallow waters around Rose Island and Athol Island are ideal for young snorkellers, and the Atlantis marine habitat on Paradise Island, home to sharks, rays, and sea turtles, is just a short tender ride from the harbour. Most catamarans in the fleet offer wide, stable decks with safety netting and child-friendly cabin layouts.
Charter yachts based in Nassau typically carry 8 to 12 guests in four to six private en-suite cabins. Larger superyachts above 100′ can host up to 12 overnight guests as permitted by Bahamian maritime regulations, with additional day-charter capacity for harbour events, celebrations, and corporate entertaining.
Nassau is ideally positioned as a jumping-off point for the wider Bahamas. The northern Exuma cays begin roughly 35 nautical miles to the south-east, while Harbour Island and Eleuthera lie about 50 nautical miles to the east. A standard seven-day charter from Nassau comfortably covers the northern Exumas and back, with time to explore Compass Cay, Warderick Wells, and Big Major Cay along the way. For a longer two-week voyage, routes extending south through the full Exuma chain or east to Eleuthera and the Abacos are both popular options.
Yacht charter Nassau places you at the crossroads of Bahamian culture and Caribbean luxury, where the colonial pastel facades of Bay Street give way to the glittering mega-yacht berths of Nassau Harbour. This compact capital island serves as the principal gateway to the Bahamas, with a fleet spanning motor yachts from 68′-98′, superyachts above 100′, and luxury catamarans starting at 55′, many berthed year-round at the Albany Marina or Palm Cay. Peak charter season spans December to April, when northeast trades keep afternoon highs around 26 °C and the harbour is framed by reliably blue skies; November and May offer shoulder-season value with calmer winds and fewer transiting vessels.
Daily rates begin from $5,700 on a mid-size catamaran or motor yacht and from $10,500 on the latest-model yachts above 78′, plus 10% Bahamian VAT and APA. Nassau’s trump card is proximity: Rose Island’s powder-white sandbar sits barely three nautical miles from the harbour mouth, giving even a weekend charter an instant taste of out-island magic, while Paradise Island’s marina restaurants and Arawak Cay’s legendary conch-shack strip keep evenings lively ashore.
