For peak season, July and August, book at least six to nine months ahead, particularly for superyachts and popular Riviera itineraries departing from Antibes or Cannes. Shoulder-season charters in May, June, or September can often be confirmed three to four months out, and occasionally at shorter notice when cancellations free up sought-after vessels.
The base charter fee covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and use of onboard amenities including water toys and tender. Fuel, provisioning, port fees, and crew gratuity are paid separately through the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), which is typically 25 to 35% of the charter fee and settled before your departure date.
The Advance Provisioning Allowance for French charters is usually 25 to 30% of the base charter fee. It covers fuel, food, beverages, marina fees, and other running costs during your voyage. Your captain keeps a full accounting of all expenditure, and any unspent balance is refunded promptly at the end of the charter.
High season (July to August) commands premium rates, often 20 to 40% above shoulder-season pricing. May, June, September, and October offer lower charter fees, fewer crowds, and reliably warm conditions along the Riviera, making them outstanding value for both experienced and first-time charterers.
A yacht charter in France spans two of the world’s most celebrated coastlines, the sun-drenched glamour of the Côte d’Azur and the wild, granite-backed bays of Corsica, delivering a breadth of cruising that few countries can rival. From the red-carpet buzz of Cannes and the pastel quaysides of Saint-Tropez to the untouched calanques south of Marseille, the French coast shifts character with every headland. Boatcrowd’s French fleet numbers over 200 vessels, including modern motor yachts from 68’ to 98’, superyachts above 100’, and luxury catamarans from 55’ upwards, with scores of additional yachts cruising in from across the western Mediterranean each summer. Peak season runs from late June through August, when the Riviera’s port towns are at their liveliest and superyachts line the Croisette; May, June, and September offer softer rates, emptier anchorages, and reliably warm seas still ideal for swimming.
Charter rates start from €4,200 per day on a luxury catamaran, from €4,900 per day on a 68’-78’ motor yacht, from €9,900 per day on a latest-model 88’-99’ yacht, and from €13,900 per day aboard a superyacht above 100’, plus French TVA and APA. No other charter destination pairs haute cuisine with turquoise water quite as effortlessly as the French coast, where every port seems to harbour a Michelin-starred restaurant within walking distance of the quay.
