Corsica pairs naturally with Sardinia, the Italian island sits just 12 kilometres across the Strait of Bonifacio, and a single short passage opens up the Maddalena Archipelago and the Costa Smeralda. Ten-day itineraries frequently combine Corsica’s Lavezzi Islands with Sardinia’s emerald bays, while longer voyages can continue north to the Côte d’Azur.
For peak season in July and August, book five to seven months ahead, popular anchorages like Bonifacio, the Lavezzi Islands, and the Scandola Reserve attract strong demand and the best yachts go early. Shoulder-season weeks in June or September can typically be confirmed with three to four months’ notice, often at rates 20 to 30% below high-season pricing.
Most charter yachts carry a tender, paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, and towable inflatables as standard equipment. Corsica’s exceptional water clarity, visibility regularly exceeds 25 metres around the Lavezzi Islands, makes snorkelling and diving a highlight on any itinerary. Larger yachts often add jet skis, SeaBobs, and diving equipment; your broker can confirm the full inventory for any vessel on your shortlist.
Corsica is an outstanding family destination. The sheltered bays around Bonifacio’s southern coast and the sandy shallows of Santa Giulia provide calm, warm swimming conditions for younger guests. Crew can organise gentle excursions, a guided walk through Bonifacio’s clifftop citadel, a snorkelling session around the Lavezzi islets, or a picnic on a deserted beach, keeping children engaged throughout.
A yacht charter in Corsica reveals a France that feels more like a private island than a région, granite peaks rising 2,700 metres from a sea that shifts from transparent aquamarine over white sand to deep indigo within 50 metres of the shoreline. The Île de Beauté’s western coast is wild and sparsely populated, with the Scandola Nature Reserve’s red-porphyry cliffs and osprey colonies accessible only by water, while the south delivers the powder-white beaches and sheltered lagoons of Bonifacio and the Lavezzi Islands. Boatcrowd lists motor yachts from 68’ to 98’, superyachts above 100’, and luxury catamarans from 55’ for Corsican charters, drawing from France’s fleet of over 200 vessels with additional yachts crossing from Sardinia, just 12 kilometres across the Strait of Bonifacio, throughout the season.
Peak season runs July through August, when the harbours of Calvi, Ajaccio, and Bonifacio are at their liveliest and the mountain maquis releases its heady scent of wild rosemary and myrtle into the evening air; June and September bring emptier anchorages, lower rates, and sea temperatures still warm enough for open-water swimming. Charter rates start from €4,200 per day on a catamaran, from €4,900 per day on a 68’-78’ motor yacht, and from €13,900 per day on a superyacht above 100’, plus French TVA and APA. Corsica is where Mediterranean cruising meets mountain wilderness, you can snorkel a marine reserve at lunch and watch the sunset from a Genoese watchtower by evening.
Uncover the marine reserves, clifftop citadels, and wild beaches that make Corsica a Mediterranean jewel in our Corsica destination guide.
