Solormar Sailing Catamaran

Fishing gear travels aboard Solormar alongside a pair of stand-up paddleboards, so a line can go over the side while two of the party paddle away from her. She is a Fountaine Pajot sailing catamaran of 62ft (19m), built in 2025.

On deck

Her flybridge carries the big sunbeds and a clear 360-degree view over the water, and a forward cockpit with its own seating gives the party a second open-air place to sit. The aft deck runs off the saloon and holds the outdoor dining table, so meals can be served under the open sky, and after dark underwater lights bring the sea around her hulls into view, while a swim platform keeps the drop into the water short.

Water toys

A 4.6m tender with a 60hp engine takes eight people, so the whole party can land together, and the same engine has the pull for an adult waterski, a wakeboard, the Jobe Stimmel multi board and a towable sofa that seats two riders. Snorkelling gear completes the kit, for looking at the seabed rather than only swimming over it.

Where she cruises

Solormar has her home port at Trogir and works the Adriatic coast of Croatia, where July and August are her busiest months. A one-way itinerary can be arranged, so a week need not finish in the harbour it started from, and guided tours ashore on the islands can be added.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, sleep eight guests, and eight is also her limit by day, so the party by day is never larger than the party overnight. The saloon's panoramic windows light an open-plan galley and dining area with a television and stereo, and the whole interior is air-conditioned. Three crew look after the eight: the captain, Marko Židić, and the chef, Iris Vukušić, are a couple who work alongside a deckhand, and the captain speaks English as well as Croatian.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 8 knots and reaches 10, and as a catamaran she sails upright, without the heel of a single hull. Her captain has sailed since he was 10, races regattas in the off-season and assists with university sailing classes, so the sailing is done by someone who does it for its own sake.

Charter notes

Solormar suits a family or a group of friends of up to eight who want to hire a sailing boat in Croatia with a chef aboard. Her charter runs by the week or for three days at the least, and Iris cooks Dalmatian dishes from local ingredients with a nutritionist's course behind her, so different dietary needs at the table are catered for from the start.
