A motor yacht in the 78’-98’ range comfortably accommodates 10 guests in four or five cabins, with generous deck space for dining al fresco and water sports. For groups that prefer single-level living and wide communal areas, a 62’-70’ luxury catamaran provides exceptional beam and shallow draught ideal for accessing Sardinia’s shallower anchorages in the Maddalena Archipelago.
Most charter yachts in Sardinia carry a tender, paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, and towable inflatables as standard. Larger motor yachts and superyachts often add jet skis, SeaBobs, diving equipment, and water slides. The island’s exceptional underwater visibility makes snorkelling and diving a highlight on any itinerary. Your broker can confirm the exact toy inventory for any vessel on your shortlist.
Sardinia pairs naturally with Corsica, the French island sits just 12 kilometres across the Strait of Bonifacio, and a single overnight passage opens up the clifftop citadel of Bonifacio and the Lavezzi Islands marine reserve. Ten-day itineraries can also loop south towards the Aeolian Islands off Sicily’s northern coast for an added dimension of volcanic drama.
For peak season in July and August, book six to eight months ahead, the Costa Smeralda and Maddalena Archipelago are among the Mediterranean’s most popular cruising grounds and the best yachts are reserved early. June and September bookings can typically be confirmed three to four months out, often with noticeably lower rates and uncrowded anchorages.
A yacht charter in Sardinia reveals the Mediterranean at its most untouched, luminous turquoise shallows over white-sand seabeds, granite archipelagos sculpted by the mistral, and a coastline that shifts from the glittering marinas of Porto Cervo to deserted anchorages where the only company is a pod of bottlenose dolphins. The Costa Smeralda delivers effortless glamour, while the Maddalena Archipelago, a national park of over 60 islands and islets, offers some of Italy’s finest snorkelling in water visibility exceeding 30 metres. Further south, the Gulf of Orosei’s sea caves and limestone arches add a wilder dimension to any charter itinerary. Boatcrowd’s Sardinian listings draw from Italy’s fleet of over 180 yachts, including motor yachts from 68’ to 98’, superyachts above 100’, and luxury catamarans from 55’ upwards, with many additional vessels cruising in from across the western Mediterranean.
Peak season falls in July and August, when Porto Cervo and the Maddalena anchorages are at their most vibrant; June and September bring lower rates, uncrowded bays, and consistent north-westerly breezes ideal for open-water cruising. Charter rates start from €4,000 per day on a catamaran, from €4,800 per day on a 68’-78’ motor yacht, and from €13,900 per day on a superyacht above 100’, plus Italian IVA and APA. Few destinations rival Sardinia’s combination of world-class marina infrastructure and genuinely wild coastline.
