How much does a yacht charter in Italy cost?
Charter pricing has a reputation for being deliberately opaque. It is not, once you know the four things you are actually paying for. This page sets out how a charter in Italy is priced, what sits inside the headline figure and what sits outside it, so that you can read a quote and know whether it is a fair one before you speak to anyone.
The figures come from the fleet we represent in Italy and are refreshed nightly. They are the shape of the market rather than a quote: a binding quote comes from the yacht owner or operator company for your specific dates.
A charter is priced by the yacht for the whole boat, not per person. Typical week rates: 80 to 100 ft, $45,525 to $87,413. 160 ft and above, $321,013 to $373,542. Typical day rates: 80 to 100 ft, $7,004 to $14,569. 160 ft and above, $49,698 to $62,257. On top of the charter fee, budget around 35% for the APA, 22% IVA and a discretionary crew gratuity of around 10%.
What You Are Actually Paying For
A crewed charter has four parts. Only the first is the figure you see advertised, which is why a quote can look like a surprise when it is really just the same charter written out in full.
- Charter fee The headline figure
- APA 35% of the charter fee
- IVA
22% IVA; may reduce based on documented time outside EU waters
22% - Crew gratuity 5 to 15%, 10% is customary

What Sets the Price in Italy
- Where charters board
Charters in Italy board at Marina di Stabia (Naples), Salerno (Amalfi), Marina di Olbia (Sardinia), Nettuno (Rome), and nights alongside are paid out of the APA rather than billed on top of the charter fee.
- Getting to the boat
The long-haul airport is Naples (NAP) / Olbia (OLB) / Rome Fiumicino (FCO), 40–50 min by road to Marina di Stabia, and transfers are arranged by the crew rather than included in the charter fee.
- When the season runs
The charter season in Italy runs May – Sep, the peak weeks are Jul – Aug, and summer sea temperature is around 21–26°C. June and September are the connoisseur's months on the Amalfi Coast and in Sardinia – warm seas, open berths and the coast at its most relaxed.
