USVI · Charter cost
How much does a yacht charter in the USVI cost?
Charter pricing has a reputation for being deliberately opaque. It is not, once you know the four things you are actually paying for. This page sets out how a charter in the USVI is priced, what sits inside the headline figure and what sits outside it, so that you can read a quote and know whether it is a fair one before you speak to anyone.
The figures come from the fleet we represent in the USVI and are refreshed nightly. They are the shape of the market rather than a quote: a binding quote comes from the yacht owner or operator company for your specific dates.
A charter is priced by the yacht for the whole boat, not per person. Typical week rates: All sizes, $42,500 to $74,000. Typical day rates: All sizes, $7,083 to $12,333. On top of the charter fee, budget around 35% for the APA, no charter tax and a discretionary crew gratuity of around 10%.
What You Are Actually Paying For
A crewed charter has four parts. Only the first is the figure you see advertised, which is why a quote can look like a surprise when it is really just the same charter written out in full.

What Sets the Price in the USVI
- Where charters board
Charters in the USVI board at Yacht Haven Grande (St. Thomas), Red Hook (St. Thomas), Compass Point Marina, and nights alongside are paid out of the APA rather than billed on top of the charter fee.
- Getting to the boat
The long-haul airport is Cyril E. King Airport (STT), 15–20 min by road to Yacht Haven Grande, and transfers are arranged by the crew rather than included in the charter fee.
- When the season runs
The charter season in the USVI runs Nov – May, the peak weeks are Dec – Apr, and summer sea temperature is around 26–28°C. St Thomas, St John and St Croix pair US convenience with BVI-grade sailing – half of St John is national park, its bays on permanent protection.
