Shipyard Italy est. 1958
Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia founded the yard at Ameglia in 1958, and it built in wood for a long time before composite. Massimo Perotti — previously a senior figure at Azimut|Benetti — took control in 2005 and pointed the whole company at the superyacht end, but kept the thing that makes it unusual: a deliberate cap on how many hulls leave each year.
That scarcity is the defining decision. Two Sanlorenzos of the same model rarely look alike inside, because each interior is treated as a one-off rather than a trim level. The yard builds across three sites now — Ameglia, Viareggio and La Spezia.
The SL102 Asymmetric is the clearest statement of intent, and genuinely the first asymmetric yacht anyone built: one side deck instead of two, which frees around ten square metres on the main deck and breaks a convention nobody had thought to question in decades. The SX crossover range applies the same reasoning to the stern, trading the tender garage for a beach club and carrying the tender on deck instead.
Charterers pick Sanlorenzo when the interior matters as much as the itinerary. Expect restraint rather than gloss, and unusually good flow between inside and out. Our fleet spans 21m to 72m — the widest range of any yard here, so the name alone tells you less than the specific yacht does.
