Maiora Yacht Charter

The yard began turning out fibreglass boats in Viareggio in the early 1970s, but Maiora as a name dates from 1985, when the Fipa shipyard took it over and started building considerably bigger. Fipa bought the historic Intermare yard on the Viareggio waterfront in 1989 and opened a second site at Massa in 2001, which is how a small local builder ended up producing yachts past 40m.

About the shipyard

What it makes is Viareggio to the core: planing composite motor yachts with generous flybridges, built in the same square mile that produces a large share of the Mediterranean charter fleet. The range now sits under Next Yacht Group alongside Exuma, whose explorer-styled hulls are a deliberate counterpoint to Maiora's glossier profile.

For a charterer the practical point is availability. Maiora built in numbers through the 2000s in exactly the 25-30m band that does most of the Mediterranean's work, so there are enough of them around that a good week is often still bookable when the more fashionable names have gone.
