How far in advance should I book an Indonesia yacht charter?
For the peak April–October dry season, booking six to nine months ahead is strongly recommended, especially for Raja Ampat (October–April has its own peak) and Komodo during the European and American summer holidays. The most sought-after Phinisi yachts often commit a full year in advance for August departures. Shoulder-month charters in November or March can sometimes be arranged four to five months ahead.
What is included in the charter price?
The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard equipment including dive compressors on most vessels. Fuel, provisions, beverages, national-park entry fees, and specialist dive-guide services are funded through the APA (30–35% of the charter fee). Indonesian VAT at 11% applies to the base rate, and any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
Do I need a visa or special permit for Indonesia?
Most Western nationals can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) for 30 days at major Indonesian airports, extendable once for a further 30 days. Certain remote areas like Raja Ampat require a separate marine conservation entry permit.
