Senja Motor Sailer

Ironwood and teak went into the superstructure of this 102ft (31m) motor sailer, drawn and built by the same hand: Yann Martinie de Maisonneuve finished Senja in 2021.

Water toys

Sea kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling gear cover the shallow bays, and for divers she carries scuba equipment, a dive compressor, a Nitrox blending system and a freediving buoy and line, so tanks are filled on board. A RIB with a centre console and a 100 HP outboard runs guests ashore.

Where she cruises

Komodo is her home port, with a second base at Raja Ampat, and Senja cruises Indonesia. Komodo National Park puts Padar, Komodo and Rinca in reach, with coral, manta rays and a pink beach. Raja Ampat is an Indonesian archipelago of small islands, cays and shoals in the Coral Triangle, and the Banda Islands add volcanic peaks and hammerhead sharks.

Accommodation and crew

Four guests is her limit on any hire, in two cabins. The main-deck master has ocean views, a sofa and a rainforest shower in its bathroom, while the cabin below has a bed that converts between a double and singles, so a second couple or children fit. Both are air-conditioned and ensuite, and eleven crew run her – more than one crew member per guest.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 7 knots with 9 on tap, an unhurried pace for moving between islands.

On deck

A private terrace opens off the master with a sunbed and a dining table, and its bathing platform and outdoor shower put the sea a step away. The foredeck carries a table and sunbeds, the upper deck another, and a therapist gives massages aboard.

Charter notes

Senja suits two couples who dive, December through March being her busiest window, and her cruise director doubles as a dive instructor, so the guiding underwater comes from her own crew.
