Bhavana Motor Sailer

A water slide and a floating pool come with Bhavana, and so does a dedicated dive area laid out for the whole sequence of a diving day, from the briefing to the last look over tanks and fins. She is a 164ft (50m) motor sailer in the phinisi tradition from the yard of Haji Abdullah, delivered in 2026, with an interior of rich timber and hand-finished detail drawn from Peranakan heritage.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Komodo, where she is the longest of the 15 yachts based there, with Raja Ampat as her second base, and she works the waters of Indonesia year-round, December to March being her peak. Raja Ampat gives the guest limestone karsts standing over blue-green lagoon shallows, Komodo gives guided walks ashore in search of its dragons and trips out to the bagans where whale sharks gather, and Alor, the Spice Islands and the Banda Sea all lie within her range.

Accommodation and crew

Seven en suite cabins sleep 15 guests, and 15 is also her limit by day, so the group aboard by day is the same group that sleeps aboard. The master cabin has a bathtub and a private balcony, two VIP cabins sit on the upper deck and four more cabins on the lower, and every cabin is air-conditioned with its own bathroom. A crew of 12 run her under a captain, and the chef's menus lean on Indonesian spices and local ingredients.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 7 knots and makes 10 at most, the unhurried pace of a hull built by hand at Bira in South Sulawesi, where phinisis have been built for generations.

On deck

Her teak decks carry shaded dining spaces, sun loungers and open terraces with views over reef, jungle and sea, while inside the main salon joins a lounge and a bar to a grand dining room. Yoga mats and gym equipment travel aboard, an ice bath stands ready for a cold plunge, and spa treatments can be arranged.

Water toys

Two RIB tenders of 6m, each with a 150hp diesel engine, carry the divers out and run guests ashore to hidden beaches and remote villages, the beach and barbecue set-up going with them. Bhavana is a PADI certified dive centre, with dives led over coral gardens, along lava-flow reefs and to the cleaning stations where mantas gather, and snorkelling gear for those who stay at the surface. Above the water there are two stand-up paddleboards and two kayaks for paddling away from the boat, a wakeboard and a banana boat for towing, and an E-Foil.

Charter notes

Bhavana can be hired for a week or a shorter stay by a large family or a group of up to 15, and a Cruise Director shapes each voyage around the wildlife, the landscapes and the island villages of Indonesia. Divers get the most from her: her Dive Masters and Instructors take every level of diver, so a group need not arrive with the same experience to go into the water together.
