Samkara Motor Yacht

A refit in 2022 brought Samkara up to date, and she is a 78ft (24m) Ferretti motor yacht built in 2009, finished below in heartwood and teak rather than cherry. Her air-conditioned saloon sits behind large windows that keep the water in view from the two sofas, and it opens forward towards the bow.

Comfort under way

She settles at 14 knots and has 18 knots available, so the water between an anchorage and the next bay takes less of the day than it might.

On deck

The stairs up to her flying bridge are built into her side rather than cutting across the deck, which leaves the line of sight from aft to bow unbroken. A swim platform makes stepping into the sea straightforward, and a garage aft holds the gear so the outside spaces stay clear.

Water toys

A Seadoo Jet Ski gives a rider something quick to take out, a SUP board suits a slower loop around the anchorage, and snorkelling equipment turns an ordinary swim into a look beneath the surface. An 11ft tender handles trips ashore.

Where she cruises

Bali is her home port and she cruises Indonesia, flying the flag of Indonesia, with December, January, February and March her busiest months.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins hold eight guests overnight: a master with a large en suite bathroom, a VIP double at the bow and a pair of twins. By day her capacity rises to 20. Four crew run her, which gives a crew member to every second guest sleeping aboard.

Charter notes

Samkara suits a family, and she works just as well for friends travelling together, with the option of a full week or a shorter three-day charter; a day on board with 20 makes her a good fit when the party is larger than the beds.
