Kayra Motor Sailer

Aqua Lung diving equipment for certified divers travels aboard Kayra, and the rest of her layout is given over to recovery: a master cabin on the upper deck with a king bed, panoramic sea views and a bathtub in its en-suite, and a few steps from it a spa with a dry sauna and a massage bed and a gym with an exercise bike, a multifunction machine, dumbbells, boxing gear and yoga mats. She is a 125ft (38m) Phinisi motor sailer, built in Indonesia in 2024.

Comfort under way

A Mitsubishi engine drives her at 8 knots on passage, 12 at the most, and with a draft of 2m a shallow bay is open to her as an anchorage.

On deck

Kayra's decks give a party room to spread across: the top deck holds a lounge, a bar and the jacuzzi, the foredeck is laid for dining in the open, and a sunbathing spot sits up on the captain's bridge. A swim platform and a beach club bring the sea close, so getting in for a swim takes no tender.

Water toys

Her tender is a 10m RIB with 200hp, and she carries a wakeboard, a water ski and towables for anyone who wants to be pulled behind a boat. A Seabob and an e-foil travel with her, along with stand-up paddleboards and two sea kayaks that each seat two, and for staying put there is a floating cabana with a sofa and a table, a floating swimming platform, a floating pool and an inflatable waterslide. Snorkelling and fishing gear come with her as well, and the crew rig and run every piece on request.

Where she cruises

Komodo is Kayra's home port and Raja Ampat her second base, and she works the waters of Indonesia with December through March her high season. Komodo National Park holds UNESCO World Heritage status and takes in Komodo itself along with Rinca and Padar, with coral gardens under the surface and Komodo dragons on the land. Sumbawa is an island of empty bays with whale sharks in the water and waterfalls inland, and Bali is within her range too.

Accommodation and crew

Four en-suite, air-conditioned cabins sleep eight guests on two kings, a double and a twin, and eight is her limit by day as well. The VIP on the main deck has the second king and a balcony of its own, and the double and the twin sit on the lower deck with portholes for their view. Seven crew look after the eight, close to a crew member for each guest, with a captain and a cruise director among them and a masseuse to work the massage bed in the spa.

Charter notes

Kayra suits a family or a set of friends with divers among them, on a week's charter or a shorter rental: a dive instructor sails in her crew, which means the divers aboard go down with a professional leading them.
