Rascal Motor Yacht

Full scuba equipment travels aboard Rascal, along with a PADI dive instructor, so certified divers can get in the water and those without a certificate can work towards it. She is a handmade phinisi, a 98ft (30m) motor yacht built of ironwood by Konjo Boat Builders in Sulawesi, Indonesia, in 2016 and refitted in 2023.

Where she cruises

Komodo is Rascal's home port, and she ranges through the waters of Indonesia, where guests can go ashore to villages and markets or spend time watching wildlife; her busiest months are January, February, March and December.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins, each with its own bathroom, sleep ten guests overnight, and twelve can be aboard for a day on the water. Ten crew look after them, a crew member for every guest, and each cabin is air-conditioned, with WiFi and a minibar.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 8 knots and tops out at 14, so the going is unhurried, and Charles Orchard's interior gives her generous common areas with the feel of a villa on the water.

On deck

The foredeck by the bridge faces the view ahead, the sheltered dining area on the main deck seats ten so the whole party sits down together, and the roof deck is open for sunbathing, yoga or a jump into the sea. There is a spa too, with massage on request.

Water toys

Two tandem sea kayaks and two paddleboards mean pairs can set off under their own power, while the wakeboard, water ski, surfboard and inflatable towable go behind a tender; snorkelling gear and fishing tackle are aboard as well, and two inflatable tenders run guests ashore.

Rascal suits two couples travelling together, or a family with divers among them, whether that is a full week's charter or a shorter three-day hire.
