Yacht Charter in Liguria

Yacht Charter Liguria

A yacht charter in Liguria traces the arc of the Italian Riviera – a crescent of steep, herb-scented hillsides tumbling into bays so sheltered that lemon trees grow at latitudes that would defeat them elsewhere. From the belle-époque grandeur of San Remo in the west to the candy-coloured fishing villages of the Cinque Terre in the east, Liguria compresses extraordinary variety into a coastline barely 300 kilometres long, with every harbour offering its own dialect of pesto and a different angle on the sea. Boatcrowd lists motor yachts from 68’ to 98’, superyachts above 100’, and luxury catamarans from 55’ for Ligurian charters, drawn from Italy’s fleet of over 180 vessels, with additional yachts cruising in from the French Riviera and Sardinia throughout the season.

Peak season spans July and August, when Portofino’s tiny harbour dazzles and Santa Margherita Ligure’s waterfront restaurants run long into the night; May, June, and September reward with quieter anchorages and the wild herbs – basil, marjoram, rosemary – at their most fragrant. Charter rates start from €4,000 per day on a catamaran, from €4,800 per day on a 68’–78’ motor yacht, and from €13,900 per day on a superyacht, plus Italian IVA and APA. Liguria is the coastline that invented pesto, focaccia, and the art of the leisurely late-afternoon passeggiata along the harbour wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I combine Liguria with a neighbouring region?

Liguria borders the French Riviera to the west and Tuscany to the south, making cross-region itineraries seamless. A week-long charter can pair Portofino and the Cinque Terre with a night in Monaco or Saint-Tropez, or head south to Elba and the Tuscan Archipelago – distances are short and the cruising is spectacular throughout. Your broker can map the most rewarding route for your available days.

What is the difference between high season and low season pricing in Liguria?

High season (July–August) rates are typically 20–40% above shoulder-season levels. June and September offer warm water, long evenings, and fewer yachts at anchor in popular harbours like Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure – outstanding value without sacrificing the Ligurian summer experience or the region’s legendary waterfront dining.

How do I choose the right yacht for a Liguria charter?

The Ligurian coast favours manoeuvrable vessels that can tuck into small harbours and shallow coves. A 68’–78’ motor yacht is ideal for couples or small groups, offering the agility to dock in Portofino’s compact harbour, while a superyacht above 100’ suits larger parties who prefer to anchor out and tender in for shore excursions. Your Boatcrowd broker will match the vessel to your priorities and group size.

What is the APA for a Liguria yacht charter?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance for Ligurian charters is typically 25–30% of the base charter fee. It covers fuel, food, beverages, marina berths, and incidental costs throughout the voyage. Your captain maintains a detailed accounting of every expense, and any unspent funds are returned to you at the end of the charter.
