The Monthly Price Index · October 2026, low season
Local knowledgeJune and September are the connoisseur's months on the Amalfi Coast and in Sardinia: warm seas, open berths and the coast at its most relaxed.

Portofino’s harbour has limited berths and consistently high demand, so peak-season charters in July and August should be booked six to eight months ahead. Shoulder-season weeks in June or September are often available at shorter notice, with the added advantage of a quieter harbour, easier mooring, and lower charter rates.
A 68’-78’ motor yacht comfortably accommodates six guests in three cabins, with ample saloon and deck space for dining and relaxation. This size range also navigates Portofino’s compact harbour with ease and can dock directly on the quay. If your group prefers spacious outdoor living and gentle motion at anchor, a 55’-65’ luxury catamaran offers generous beam and excellent stability.
Portofino is ideally positioned for a broader Ligurian cruise. Santa Margherita Ligure is a ten-minute tender ride away, Camogli and the Cinque Terre lie to the south-east, and the full Italian Riviera stretches north-west towards Genoa, Alassio, and San Remo. A week-long charter comfortably covers Portofino and several neighbouring highlights along the coast and into the Gulf of Poets.
Most charter yachts carry a tender, paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, and towable inflatables as standard equipment. The marine protected area around Portofino’s headland offers exceptional snorkelling and diving over gorgonian coral fans and grouper habitats. Larger yachts often add jet skis and SeaBobs, your broker can confirm the full inventory for any vessel on your shortlist.
A yacht charter in Portofino places you at the threshold of the Mediterranean’s most photographed harbour, a tight horseshoe of ochre and terracotta buildings reflected in water so still it doubles the scene. The village itself is tiny, barely 400 residents, yet its harbour has welcomed yachts since the 1950s, and the cluster of waterfront restaurants, tables practically touching the mooring lines at the Piazzetta, remains one of the most coveted lunch spots on the Italian coast. Beyond the harbour, Paraggi’s crescent beach and the marine protected area of Portofino offer superlative snorkelling over gorgonian fans in visibility that often exceeds 20 metres. The headland walk to the lighthouse of Punta del Capo rewards with views across the Ligurian Sea to Corsica on clear mornings. Boatcrowd lists motor yachts from 68’ to 98’, superyachts above 100’, and luxury catamarans from 55’ for Portofino charters, drawn from Italy’s fleet of over 180 vessels.
July and August represent peak season, when harbour berths are at a premium; May, June, and September offer quieter moorings, softer rates, and equally warm seas. Charter rates start from €4,000 per day on a catamaran, from €4,800 per day on a 68’-78’ motor yacht, and from €9,900 per day on a latest-model 88’-99’ yacht, plus Italian IVA and APA. Portofino may be small, but its capacity to enchant from the water is unmatched on the Riviera.
