About Lumière

A crew of seven look after the ten guests who sleep aboard Lumière, close to a crew member for each of them, and her beach club has panoramic glazing, which lets daylight into the part of her that sits nearest the water. She is a 126ft (38m) Moonen superyacht delivered in 2024, among just five of the builder's yachts open to hire through Boatcrowd, with René van der Velden Yacht Design behind her exterior and Studio Indigo behind an interior that reaches all three of her decks.

On deck

The sun deck is extended, and the jacuzzi sits at the middle of it, so a soak is taken in the open with the horizon all round. An exterior bar keeps the drinks outside with the guests, and the swim platform, also extended, is the step from her deck down into the sea.

Water toys

A Castoldi jet tender takes the party ashore to coves and beaches too small for the yacht herself. The toys she carries are for the water around her: a pair of Seadoo jet skis for two riders, two SUP boards for two paddlers, water skis, a wakeboard and a towable tube for being towed, and snorkelling gear for whatever lies under the surface.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Corsica, in France, and she operates in France, Italy and Monaco. Bonifacio is a citadel city on white cliffs above the strait, with its own anchorages, and the Lavezzi Islands are a protected marine reserve of granite and clear water for swimming; Cannes has the Lérins Islands anchored just offshore, and Bandol is a working fishing port with the domaines of Provence behind it. In Italy Lumière can reach Stromboli in the Aeolian Islands, an active volcano with black sand beaches whose eruptions can be watched from the anchorage at night, and in Monaco the Prince's Palace on Le Rocher.

Accommodation and crew

Those ten sleep in five cabins: a king in the full-beam master suite, a queen in each of the two VIP cabins and the two doubles, and two pullman berths besides, with panoramic windows bringing daylight to the cabins below deck. By day she can carry twelve, and July and August are the two months at the height of her season.

Comfort under way

Her stabilisers work at zero speed as well as under way, so the roll is taken out of her at anchor as much as on a passage, and she cruises at 14 knots with 17 knots at the top.

Charter notes

Lumière suits two couples or a family, and she is offered by the week and for three days, so a family can start with a shorter charter aboard her rather than a full week.
