Silver Wave Superyacht

Nuvolari & Lenard drew the exterior of Silver Wave, and eight crew run her for a party of twelve at most, so nobody aboard waits long to be looked after. She is a 150ft (46m) Palmer Johnson superyacht, and the lines they gave her have carried her since 2009.

Water toys

A 19ft Castoldi tender takes the party ashore, and the water behind Silver Wave is busy: two Seadoos so two can ride together, a Wave Runner besides, water skis and a wakeboard to be towed at speed, and a donut and a banana for the towed rides. Two Seabob F5S and two E-surf travel with her, two paddleboards put two on the water with no engine at all, and there is gear for both fishing and snorkelling.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Cannes, in France, and her grounds take in Monaco and Italy as well, with Greece, Malta and Croatia rounding out the list. Six countries of coastline, reached from a home port in France, leave the choice of shore broad rather than settled in advance.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep those twelve – three doubles, two twins and two pullman berths – and twelve is her limit by day as well, so the party that sleeps aboard is the whole party aboard, with July and August the two months at the heart of her year.

Comfort under way

Zero-speed stabilisers work with the anchor down as much as with her under way, and a hull held flat at rest changes how a night aboard feels. She cruises at 18 knots, will run up to 26 and burns 800 litres of fuel an hour, so the miles between two of her coasts pass quickly.

On deck

The deck jacuzzi is the thing that marks her out up top: a soak with the sea in view rather than in it, while the swim platform gives the plain way into the water for anyone who would rather be in it.

Charter notes

Silver Wave suits two couples travelling together and, just as well, a family with children. She charters by the week, with a three-day hire the shortest term offered, and having been refitted in 2022, the boat a family settles into is a recently renewed one.
