Shipyard Poland est. 1982
Galeon started in 1982 in a small facility at Straszyn outside Gdańsk, building sailboats for Beneteau and Jeanneau. Learning the trade on someone else's product is a good apprenticeship, and the yard now runs two sites and 1,400 people, building 30 to 80 feet under its own name.
The reinvention came with the Tony Castro-designed 500 Fly, unveiled at Cannes in 2015. It introduced Beach Mode — folding balconies on both sides that drop down to widen the main deck substantially — along with a rotating cockpit sofa.
These are not gimmicks, which is the easy assumption. On a boat under 25m the fold-out balconies materially change how the main deck feels at anchor, and at anchor is where a charter yacht spends most of its week.
Excellent value with genuinely clever use of space, and more deck than the length suggests. Our fleet runs 14m to 24m.
