About Galeon yachts
Galeon was founded in Poland in 1982 and remains privately owned, building its motor yachts in glass-reinforced plastic at two factories, one at Straszyn and a newer one on the Baltic coast with its own marina for owners. Galeon makes most of each yacht's components itself, apart from engines and electronics, and its range runs from compact sports boats up to flybridge yachts of about twenty-five metres, built for owners who want to run the boat themselves.
The flybridge yachts are drawn by Tony Castro Yacht Design, which handles the naval architecture and exterior styling, while Galeon designs the interiors. The 640 Fly, first introduced in 2009 and renewed as a second generation in 2018, is known for Beach Mode, an electrically operated section of the side of the boat that opens out to widen the bar area of the main deck. Buyers could choose between three cabins with a larger owner's suite and four cabins for families or charter. The 680 Fly, launched in 2018 as part of Galeon's fourth generation of models, gives the owner's cabin its own access from the saloon so it stays private when guests are aboard, and tops the flybridge with a carbon-reinforced hard top. Both were offered with a choice of Volvo Penta or MAN diesels, the MAN option adding speed.

Questions buyers ask
How does buying a yacht through Boatcrowd work?
You tell us which yacht interests you through the enquiry form on her listing. We confirm she is still available at the price shown, collect the documents the seller holds, and arrange a viewing wherever she is lying. From there the usual sequence is an offer subject to survey and sea trial, a deposit held in a client account, the survey and trial themselves, and then closing and registration. The Boatcrowd team coordinates each step and stays with you through it.
What does the VAT status on a listing mean?
VAT paid means European Union value added tax has been settled on the yacht and she can be used privately in EU waters without a further liability arising from that. VAT unpaid means it has not been settled, which suits a buyer who will keep the yacht outside the EU or import her under an arrangement of their own. The difference is a significant part of the asking price, so it is worth establishing before an offer is made. Where the seller has given us the status, it is printed on the listing.
Why do some listings say Price on Request?
Because the seller has chosen not to publish a figure. It is common at the top of the market and on yachts that have only just come available, and it says nothing about where the price sits in either direction. Send an enquiry from the listing and the Boatcrowd team will come back to you with the number and with what it includes.
Do I need a survey and a sea trial?
On any yacht that has been in the water, yes. A survey establishes the condition of the hull, the machinery and the systems, and a sea trial shows how she actually behaves at operating speed and at anchor. Offers are normally made subject to both, so the findings can be discussed before anything is final. On a yacht in build the equivalent is the yard's own sequence of inspections and the handover trials at the end of it.
