About Sunreef Yachts

Sunreef builds catamarans in Gdansk and is the yard that turned large sail and power multihulls into a superyacht category rather than a curiosity. Hulls run from the mid-teens of metres into the forties, in composite, with the Eco range carrying solar panels integrated into the structure and electric drive. The appeal is what every catamaran offers, amplified by size: beam, a full-width owner's suite, shallow draft and almost no roll at anchor. Used examples come up regularly enough to compare.

Questions buyers ask

What does a Sunreef catamaran give you that a monohull does not?

Beam, and what beam allows: a full-width owner's suite, deck space out of proportion to her length, shallow draft and almost no roll at anchor. The yard builds in Gdansk from the mid-teens of metres into the forties, in composite, and the Eco range carries solar panels integrated into the structure with electric drive. Beam is also what to check against the berths you use, because it decides where she can lie and what that costs.

Do I need a survey and a sea trial?

On any yacht that has been in the water, yes. A survey establishes the condition of the hull, the machinery and the systems, and a sea trial shows how she actually behaves at operating speed and at anchor. Offers are normally made subject to both, so the findings can be discussed before anything is final. On a yacht in build the equivalent is the yard's own sequence of inspections and the handover trials at the end of it.

What does the VAT status on a listing mean?

VAT paid means European Union value added tax has been settled on the yacht and she can be used privately in EU waters without a further liability arising from that. VAT unpaid means it has not been settled, which suits a buyer who will keep the yacht outside the EU or import her under an arrangement of their own. The difference is a significant part of the asking price, so it is worth establishing before an offer is made. Where the seller has given us the status, it is printed on the listing.

How does buying a yacht through Boatcrowd work?

You tell us which yacht interests you through the enquiry form on her listing. We confirm she is still available at the price shown, collect the documents the seller holds, and arrange a viewing wherever she is lying. From there the usual sequence is an offer subject to survey and sea trial, a deposit held in a client account, the survey and trial themselves, and then closing and registration. The Boatcrowd team coordinates each step and stays with you through it.
