Croatia's standard rate is twenty-five per cent, among the higher rates in the European Union, so a yacht that is not VAT paid carries a larger potential liability here than in some neighbouring states. Charter is taxed at a lower rate of thirteen per cent. A yacht that is VAT paid in another member state keeps that status here, so the question is whether she is paid, not where.
