Selling Your Yacht with Boatcrowd
Selling a yacht well is quieter work than it looks from the outside: an asking price you can stand behind, a listing that does her justice, the buyers who are genuinely looking for a yacht like her, and someone there when they come aboard. Our part is to handle each of those properly, in confidence, with one specialist you can call throughout.
Six stages, from first call to handover
The sequence is the same whether she is a flybridge lying in Palma or a superyacht wintering in the Caribbean. What changes is the detail, not the order.
A conversation about her
We begin by talking about the yacht: her history, her condition, how she has been used and kept, and what you would like from the sale. The asking price is discussed openly, against comparable yachts on the market, before anything is published.
Preparing her listing
We prepare her listing with you: her specification, her layout, her recent work and the photographs that show her best. You see and approve it before it goes live.
Presenting her to buyers
Her listing is presented to buyers looking for a yacht of her size and style. If she is also in our charter fleet, her listing says so and links to her charter programme.
Viewings and sea trials
We arrange viewings wherever she lies and we attend them, so every buyer is met by someone who knows her. When a buyer is serious, the sea trial is arranged with you and her captain.
Offers and the contract
Every offer comes to you through us, with our view on it, and the decision is always yours. The signed contract sets the price, the deposit, the timetable and the conditions of the sale, and the deposit is held in escrow.
Closing and handover
The buyer's survey is settled, the balance is paid, title passes and she is handed over with her documentation. We stay with it until the paperwork is complete.
One specialist, from the first call to the keys
An owner's sale is handled by one specialist from our team, who takes your first call and stays with it: the listing, the viewings, the offers, the contract and the closing. Nothing is agreed on your behalf without you, and nothing about you or your yacht is shared beyond what you approve.
What you can expect
- One specialist, from the first conversation to the handover.
- Discretion: nothing about you or your yacht is published without your agreement.
- No obligation to list. The first conversation commits you to nothing.
- Her listing presented to buyers looking for a yacht like her.
- Viewings and sea trials arranged and attended, wherever she lies.
- Every offer put to you with our view on it, and the decision always yours.
Worth knowing early
- VAT status and flag travel with the yacht and shape who can buy her and where she can be used. Have her VAT paperwork and registration to hand, and we will set out what they mean for her sale.
- A buyer will arrange an independent survey before committing. A recent survey of your own, with a record of maintenance and refits, answers questions early.
- Documentation to have ready: registration and builder's certificates, the bill of sale history, class and flag certificates, her inventory, manuals and service records.
- If she is in charter, her charter record and any forward bookings are part of what a buyer will ask about.
