About yachts between EUR 20m and EUR 50m

Between twenty and fifty million euro almost every yacht was drawn for the owner who commissioned her. Forty-five to sixty metres, steel hull, aluminium superstructure, a crew of twelve to eighteen, and a specification that reflects one family's idea of how to use a ship. Few change hands in a year, so the work is as much about knowing which yachts might move as about choosing from a list. Class notation, flag and the last major survey shape the price as much as the interior.

Questions buyers ask

What does this budget buy?

Forty-five to sixty metres, and almost always a yacht drawn for the owner who commissioned her. Steel hull, aluminium superstructure, a crew of twelve to eighteen, and a layout that reflects one family and how they used her. Few yachts at this size change hands in a year, so the work is as much about knowing which might move as about choosing from a list.

Can I see the yacht before making an offer?

Yes, and you should. Viewings are arranged where the yacht is lying, which for much of the fleet means the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean or Florida in winter, and they have to be fitted around her own movements and any charters she is running. Tell the Boatcrowd team which yachts you want to see and we will put the itinerary together.

What does the VAT status on a listing mean?

VAT paid means European Union value added tax has been settled on the yacht and she can be used privately in EU waters without a further liability arising from that. VAT unpaid means it has not been settled, which suits a buyer who will keep the yacht outside the EU or import her under an arrangement of their own. The difference is a significant part of the asking price, so it is worth establishing before an offer is made. Where the seller has given us the status, it is printed on the listing.

How does buying a yacht through Boatcrowd work?

You tell us which yacht interests you through the enquiry form on her listing. We confirm she is still available at the price shown, collect the documents the seller holds, and arrange a viewing wherever she is lying. From there the usual sequence is an offer subject to survey and sea trial, a deposit held in a client account, the survey and trial themselves, and then closing and registration. The Boatcrowd team coordinates each step and stays with you through it.
