Yacht charter Bimini puts the closest Bahamian islands within reach of mainland America – just 50 nautical miles east of Miami across the Gulf Stream’s cobalt-blue current. This tiny chain of two main islands packs an outsized reputation: Hemingway wrote much of “The Old Man and the Sea” in a waterfront cottage here, big-game anglers still chase blue marlin in the deep waters off the continental shelf, and the mysterious Bimini Road – a submerged limestone formation at 18 feet – draws divers and curious minds alike. The charter fleet includes motor yachts of 68′–98′, superyachts above 100′, and luxury catamarans from 55′, with many vessels crossing from Fort Lauderdale or Miami for weekend and week-long charters. Peak season runs December through April, when Gulf Stream crossings are smoothest and water temperatures hover around 24 °C; November and May offer shoulder-season access to quieter marinas and calmer anchorages off the western shore.
Daily rates start from $5,700 on a catamaran or mid-size motor yacht and from $10,500 on latest-model yachts above 78′, plus 10% Bahamian VAT and APA. Bimini’s singular draw is the crossing itself – the thrill of watching the shallow Florida shelf drop away into deep-ocean blue as you arrive at an island world that feels utterly apart from the mainland it sits so tantalisingly close to. It is this effortless blend of accessibility and escape that makes Bimini one of the Bahamas’ most compelling short-charter destinations.

Browse the yachts available for Bimini charters, from luxury catamarans at 55′ to motor yachts of 68′–98′ and superyachts above 100′. Weekly rates begin from approximately $39,900 and from $73,500 on the latest motor yachts. Filter by yacht type, guest capacity, length, or daily rate to compare the fleet. Boatcrowd’s specialists can advise on the best vessel for a Gulf Stream crossing and Bimini island-hopping itinerary.
Bimini’s proximity to South Florida makes it popular for weekend and short-break charters – book 3–6 months ahead for peak-season departures (December–April). For a specific yacht crossing from Fort Lauderdale or Miami, earlier booking gives you the widest choice of vessels positioned locally for the Gulf Stream passage.
The advance provisioning allowance for Bimini charters typically runs 25–35% of the base charter fee and covers fuel (including the Gulf Stream crossing), food, beverages, dockage at Bimini’s marinas, and any arranged excursions such as guided sport-fishing trips. Your captain tracks all spending, and unspent funds are refunded in full at the end of the charter.
Bimini pairs naturally with a longer Bahamas itinerary – from Bimini, it’s approximately 96 nautical miles south-east to Nassau, typically an overnight passage on a motor yacht. For a two-week charter, cruising from Bimini through Nassau and into the Exuma cays creates one of the Bahamas’ most varied and rewarding routes, blending deep-water adventure with island-hopping tranquillity.
Most yachts carry paddleboards, snorkelling gear, kayaks, and inflatables as standard. Bimini’s deep-water proximity makes it exceptional for sport fishing – larger vessels often carry outriggers and tackle for blue marlin, tuna, and wahoo. Diving gear for exploring the Bimini Road and the SS Sapona wreck can be arranged through your charter specialist with advance notice.
