Local knowledgeBora Bora's lagoon and the Tuamotus' pristine atolls sail year-round, at their finest in the dry austral winter.
Holidays and school breaks that suit these waters
For the peak May to October dry season, seven to ten months’ lead time is strongly recommended, Bora Bora’s global reputation means the most desirable yachts fill early, especially for honeymoon season (June to August) and the July Heiva festival window. The November to April wet season offers warmer water and significantly softer rates, and can usually be arranged four to five months ahead.
The base fee covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard equipment including snorkelling gear and kayaks. Fuel, provisions, beverages, lagoon-mooring fees, and any dive or cultural excursions are funded through the APA (30 to 35% of the charter fee). International visitors pay no VAT on the charter fee in French Polynesia, and any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
Absolutely, Raiatea and Taha’a share a single barrier reef just 20 nautical miles south-east, making a multi-island loop one of the classic South Pacific yacht itineraries. Raiatea offers sacred Polynesian temples and lush rainforest hikes, while Taha’a’s vanilla plantations and coral gardens provide a quieter contrast to Bora Bora’s glamour. Your Boatcrowd broker designs the routing and manages all inter-island logistics.
High season (May to October) rates reflect demand during the dry trade-wind months when skies are clearest and whale-watching is prime. Low-season rates (November to April) can be 15 to 25% softer, with the trade-off being occasional tropical showers and higher humidity, offset by warmer lagoon water and lusher landscapes. Your Boatcrowd broker can advise on the best value windows that balance weather with savings.
Yacht charter Bora Bora anchors you beside the most photographed island silhouette in the South Pacific, a volcanic remnant where the twin basalt peaks of Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia rise 727 metres above a lagoon of luminous turquoise encircled by a necklace of low-lying motus, lemon sharks cruise the shallow coral gardens off the barrier reef, and overwater bungalows stretch across water so clear you can count the starfish on the sandy seabed from the surface. Bora Bora’s charter fleet draws from 25+ yachts across French Polynesia: 68′-98′ motor yachts that circle the lagoon and anchor off the secluded motus, 100′+ superyachts positioned for entertaining with Otemanu as a backdrop, and 55′+ catamarans whose shallow drafts navigate the reef passes and open up the inner lagoon’s most pristine snorkelling sites.
May to October is peak season, dry, 26 to 28°C days, steady trade winds, and humpback whales passing through the deep water outside the reef. The wet season from November to April brings warmer water and lush tropical greenery at lower charter rates. Daily rates start from approximately $2,500/day on a catamaran, climbing to $9,000+/day on a superyacht, with no VAT on charter fees for international visitors and 30 to 35% APA covering fuel, provisions, and lagoon-mooring fees. Bora Bora’s timeless allure is the sheer intensity of its beauty, a lagoon so vivid it looks digitally enhanced, framed by a volcanic skyline that has defined tropical paradise in the collective imagination for over a century.
