Nomad IV Motor Sailer

Nomad IV keeps two home ports half a world apart. The 100ft (30m) Finot-Conq motor sailer burns 114 litres an hour under power; she was launched in 2013 and refitted in 2021.

Water toys

Two paddleboards and three kayaks travel with her, so several of the party can leave the boat under their own steam, while water skis and a wakeboard suit anyone who would rather be towed. There is snorkelling gear for a look below the surface, tackle for fishing, and a 13ft tender for runs ashore.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Tahiti, in French Polynesia, and she keeps a second base at Antibes. Nomad IV cruises French Polynesia as well as France and Italy, which leaves guests two quite different kinds of water to choose between.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep twelve guests in doubles and twins. Six crew look after them – a crew member for every two people aboard – on a yacht that works all year and is busiest in January, February, July, August and December.

Comfort under way

She settles into a 10-knot cruise with 14 knots on hand, and the cabins are air-conditioned. Wi-Fi reaches through the boat, so nobody has to drop out of contact for a week.

On deck

The swim platform puts the sea within a step, and climbing back out of it asks nothing of anyone.

Charter notes

For two couples sharing the boat, or a family who want all five cabins, the hire of Nomad IV covers twelve people by day as well as overnight, so nobody in the group has to be left ashore.
