Big Sky Superyacht

Two tenders go ashore from Big Sky, a 34ft centre console and an 18ft Williams, so two groups can be landed at once instead of sharing a single boat. Her interior is the work of Sam Sorgiovanni, refurnished from end to end in 2025 in a calm neutral palette, and it sits inside a 157ft (48m) superyacht designed and built by Oceanfast in 2010, one of two of her builder's yachts with Boatcrowd.

Accommodation and crew

Eleven guests sleep aboard in five suites, each with its own bathroom, and for a day on the water she can take twelve. The master runs the full beam of her, with large windows and a deep soaking tub, and like everything else aboard it is looked after by a crew of ten, which on an eleven-guest yacht comes very close to a crew member for every guest.

Comfort under way

Her stabilisers work at zero speed, which means the hull is held level while Big Sky lies stopped as well as when she is moving. She cruises at 11 knots with 18 knots available, and her engines are economical ones, using about 125 litres an hour.

On deck

The sun deck jacuzzi is ringed by a large sunbed, a bar and a U-shaped lounge, so a soak in the open air has a drink and a place to lie down at hand. Dining aft on the upper deck is shaded, and on the main deck a smaller lounging area leads by twin staircases to the swim platform, the shortest way into the sea. Her gym carries a long list of equipment, enough to keep a training routine going without leaving the boat.

Water toys

She carries fifteen toys. Two jet skis carry two riders and three Seabobs three more, two e-foils go with two paddleboards and two glass-bottomed kayaks, and for towing there are water skis, a kneeboard, a wakesurf board and two wakeboards with boots and bindings, as well as a three-person banana and a donut, which are pulled rather than steered. A dive compressor sits with her diving and snorkelling equipment, so tanks can be refilled aboard, and fishing tackle is carried too.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Moorea in French Polynesia, and her grounds span the South Pacific and Australia. Within them Big Sky works French Polynesia, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia, so a guest has four countries' worth of coastline to choose from rather than a single stretch of it.

Charter notes

Big Sky is offered by the week or as a three-day hire, with December, January and February her high months, and she suits two couples as readily as a family on a charter. For the family in particular she carries an inflatable water slide, a Jungle Joe climbing pyramid and a trampoline, so the water around her is somewhere to play and not only to swim.
