Askari Motor Yacht

Eight sets of dive equipment travel aboard Askari, so eight guests can kit up at once, and she carries two tenders, an 18ft Falcon and a 6.5m Zodiac semi-rigid. The 108ft (33m) motor yacht came from the Sermons yard in 1971 and was refitted in 2017.

On deck

A jacuzzi sits on her sun deck, open to the sky, and the same deck leaves room to lie out. The aft deck is set for dining and lounging outdoors, and a swim platform makes getting into the sea and back aboard simple.

Water toys

A three-person Wave Runner, four stand-up paddleboards and three kayaks, two of them doubles, give several ways to be out on the water, and a wakeboard travels with her too. Fishing and snorkelling gear are aboard, along with a beach set-up.

Where she cruises

Tahiti is Askari's home port, and she works French Polynesia and Fiji. In French Polynesia the Society Islands and the Tuamotu Atolls are within her reach, lagoons held inside the reef, water to anchor in and swim from.

Accommodation and crew

Five staterooms sleep ten – a king, two queens and two twin cabins, the twins convertible to queens – and seven crew look after them. By day she can have twelve aboard.

Comfort under way

Stabilisers keep the roll down under way and at anchor, and she settles into a 12-knot cruise with 15 knots in reserve.

Charter notes

She takes bookings the year round, busiest in December, January and February, with three days possible as well as a full week's hire. Two couples or a family of up to ten fit her well, and divers best of all: the crew's speciality is diving and exploring the lagoons.
