Holidays and school breaks that suit these waters
Yes, the Kornati archipelago is one of the primary reasons to charter from Šibenik. The outer islands lie roughly two hours’ cruise from the marina, and a typical seven-day itinerary includes two to three nights anchored in Kornati’s sheltered channels, combined with stops at Tela’scica Nature Park, Primo’sten, and the offshore island of ’Zlarin. Entry permits are arranged through your captain.
For peak-season departures in July and August, booking five to eight months ahead is recommended to secure the best yachts for Kornati itineraries. Šibenik sees slightly less demand pressure than Split, so shoulder-season voyages in May to June or September can often be confirmed with three months’ notice and offer wider yacht availability.
Šibenik is an excellent base for a family charter. The Krka waterfalls are a natural playground that children love, and the calm, sheltered waters between the Kornati islands offer gentle swimming conditions. Most yachts carry paddleboards, snorkelling gear, and water toys, and the crew can organise shore excursions that blend fun with the region’s rich history.
The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard onboard equipment including water toys. Fuel, provisioning, berthing fees, and Kornati park entry permits fall under the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), typically 25 to 35% of the charter fee. Croatian VAT at 13% applies, and your captain provides a full APA accounting at the end of the voyage.
Yacht charter Šibenik positions you at the mouth of the Krka River, a city crowned by the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James, whose intricately carved stone facade has watched over the harbour for over five centuries. From the marina, the Krka National Park waterfalls lie just a short excursion upriver, while the Kornati archipelago’s 89 barren limestone islets spread across the sea to the south-west, offering some of the most dramatic and unspoilt anchorages in the Adriatic. The Adriatic town of Primo’sten, with its vineyard-striped peninsula, is barely an hour’s cruise to the south, and the lively harbour of Vodice sits just to the north. The charter fleet serving Šibenik includes luxury catamarans from 55 ft, ideal for navigating Kornati’s narrow channels with their shallow draught, modern motor yachts in the 68 to 98 ft range, and superyachts above 100 ft for extended Dalmatian cruises. Peak season spans July and August; May to June and September to October deliver warm seas, golden light, and far fewer yachts at anchor.
Charter rates start from €3,800 per day on a catamaran, from €4,800 per day on a motor yacht, from €8,800 per day on the latest 88 to 99 ft models, and from €11,800 per day on a superyacht, plus Croatian VAT and APA. Šibenik is the quiet alternative to Split, with world-class cruising right on its doorstep.
