Crete is an outstanding family destination. The north coast offers calm, shallow bays ideal for younger swimmers, and landmarks like the Knossos palace and the Venetian harbour at Chania bring history to life in a way that children find genuinely engaging. Most charter yachts carry water toys, paddleboards, and snorkelling gear, and the crew can arrange family-friendly excursions ashore to suit all ages.
A group of eight is typically well matched to a motor yacht in the 68 to 78 ft range, offering three to four ensuite staterooms and ample deck space for dining al fresco and sunbathing. A luxury catamaran from 55 ft can also work well for eight guests, providing generous beam, stable cruising, and excellent natural ventilation. Your charter specialist can recommend specific yachts based on your cabin-layout and budget preferences.
Yes. From Crete’s eastern coast you can cruise north to the Cyclades, Santorini is roughly 60 nautical miles away, an overnight passage or a comfortable day’s cruise on a motor yacht, or south-east toward the Dodecanese islands of Karpathos and Rhodes. A two-week charter opens up a full circuit of the southern Aegean, and our team can advise on routing, one-way positioning fees, and any permits required.
The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard onboard equipment including water toys. Fuel, provisioning, berthing fees at Chania, Heraklion, and Agios Nikolaos marinas, and any special requests are covered by the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), typically 25 to 35% of the charter fee. Greek VAT at 6.5% to 12% applies to all Crete charters.
Yacht charter Crete brings you alongside the largest and most diverse of the Greek islands, a 260-kilometre coastline where the pink-sand lagoon of Elafonisi dissolves into the Libyan Sea to the south-west, the Venetian harbour of Chania glows amber at dusk, and the rugged White Mountains drop vertically into the Samaria Gorge just a short drive inland. Anchor off the turquoise shallows of Balos Lagoon on the Gramvousa peninsula, tender ashore to the fortified island of Spinalonga with its Venetian ramparts, or moor at Agios Nikolaos and explore the Minoan palace of Knossos, Europe’s oldest civilisation, by road. The Crete charter fleet includes luxury catamarans from 55 ft for coastal cruising along the north shore, modern motor yachts in the 68 to 98 ft range for circumnavigation itineraries, and superyachts above 100 ft for those seeking the highest level of onboard service with a private chef and full crew. Peak season runs July through August; May to June and September to October offer calmer seas, wildflower-covered hillsides, and fewer visitors at every anchorage.
Charter rates start from €3,900 per day on a catamaran, from €4,900 per day on a motor yacht, from €8,900 per day on the latest 88 to 99 ft models, and from €11,900 per day on a superyacht, plus 12% VAT (or 6.5%) and APA. Crete rewards the unhurried explorer with one of the Mediterranean’s richest island experiences.
