St Barts is one of the Caribbean’s most in-demand charter destinations, particularly over Christmas and New Year. For December to April departures, booking 6 to 12 months ahead is essential, the most coveted superyachts and motor yachts commit their winter schedules well before the season begins. Shoulder-season windows in November and May can sometimes be arranged with 8 to 12 weeks’ notice.
High-season rates (December to April) in St Barts are typically 20 to 30% above low-season levels, with a further premium during the Christmas-New Year’s fortnight when Gustavia harbour is at its busiest. Low season (June to October) brings warmer water, quieter anchorages, and significantly reduced charter rates. The shoulder months of November and May often deliver the best balance of fine weather and value.
St Barts sits roughly 15 nautical miles south-east of St Martin and 60 nautical miles from Anguilla, making a multi-island Leeward Islands itinerary one of the region’s most rewarding charter routes. A seven-day charter comfortably covers the highlights of all three islands. Longer voyages of 10 to 14 days can extend south to Antigua or east to St Kitts for even greater variety.
The base charter fee covers the yacht, professional crew, and all onboard amenities, water toys, snorkelling gear, tenders, and linens. Food, beverages, fuel, and port fees in Gustavia are paid through the APA (typically 25 to 35% of the charter fee). Crew gratuity of 10 to 20% is customary and settled separately at the end of the charter.
Yacht charter St Barts anchors you off the most glamorous 8 square miles in the Caribbean, a volcanic gem of red-roofed villas, designer boutiques, and harbour-front restaurants where the crowd is as polished as the superyachts lining Gustavia’s horseshoe-shaped port. Despite its reputation for luxury, St Barts retains a genuine island warmth: fishermen still mend nets at Corossol, goats wander the hillside above Colombier, and the boulangeries open before dawn with the aroma of fresh croissants drifting through Gustavia’s cobblestoned lanes. The charter fleet visiting St Barts includes motor yachts of 68′-98′, superyachts above 100′, and luxury catamarans from 55′, with over 100 vessels available across the St Martin-St Barts-Anguilla triangle. Peak season runs December through April, with New Year’s Eve in Gustavia harbour ranked among the Caribbean’s most spectacular celebrations, while November and May bring shoulder-season calm with reduced rates and emptier anchorages.
Daily rates start from $8,000 on a mid-size motor yacht and from $10,200 on latest-model vessels above 89′, plus APA of typically 25 to 35%. St Barts’ singular allure is the effortless pairing of haute cuisine and barefoot ease, a morning snorkel at Colombier followed by lunch at a Michelin-starred terrace overlooking the harbour, all without changing out of your swimwear.
