Leopard Catamarans for Charter

John Robertson and Jerry Caine started building in the Cape Town suburb of Woodstock in 1991, working on racing yachts and one-offs — which is where the composite expertise came from. The partnership with The Moorings began in 1995, the first order of eight catamarans followed in 1996, and the Leopard brand was established in 1997. A hundred boats went to The Moorings in the first four years alone.

About the shipyard

That origin is the whole point. These are designed with charter operation as the primary use case rather than an afterthought: forgiving handling, symmetrical cabin layouts, systems built to survive a new crew every week.

And they are properly proven before anyone charters one. Boats are tested in the notoriously rough water off Cape Town, then delivered to the Caribbean on their own keels rather than on a ship. One point of confusion worth settling: this yard has no connection to the Italian Leopard motor yachts, despite the shared name.
