Local knowledgeAnchoring beneath the Pitons is one of yachting's signature moments. Pair it with Marigot Bay's palm-fringed shelter and Friday's fish fry at Anse La Raye.
The latest additions to the fleet
For peak-season departures (December to April), booking 6 to 12 months ahead is recommended, particularly for popular catamarans and motor yachts with Pitons anchorage permits. Shoulder-season charters in November or May can often be confirmed with 8 to 12 weeks’ notice, and the island’s mooring fields are noticeably quieter during this period.
St Lucia is a natural starting point for a southward cruise into the Grenadines. Martinique lies 25 nautical miles to the north, while St Vincent, gateway to the Grenadine chain, sits about 34 nautical miles to the south. A 10 to 14-day charter from Rodney Bay can cover the Pitons, Bequia, Mustique, and the Tobago Cays in a single voyage, creating one of the Caribbean’s most varied itineraries.
The base charter fee covers the yacht, professional crew, and onboard amenities including water toys, snorkelling gear, paddleboards, and linens. Provisioning, food, beverages, fuel, and mooring fees, is managed through the APA (typically 25 to 35% of the charter fee). Crew gratuity of 10 to 20% is customary and paid separately.
St Lucia is a wonderful family charter destination. Calm bays along the west coast, including Marigot Bay and Anse Cochon, provide sheltered snorkelling for young swimmers, and the Soufrière sulphur springs offer a memorable mud-bath excursion that children love. Catamarans are a popular family choice, with stable decks and crew who can tailor activities and meals to suit younger guests.
Yacht charter St Lucia brings you face to face with the Caribbean’s most iconic skyline, the twin volcanic spires of the Pitons rising 2,400 feet above the sea near Soufrière, their jungle-clad flanks plunging into water so deep it turns from turquoise to indigo within a boat-length of the shore. Beyond the Pitons, the island unfolds in lush valleys threaded with cocoa plantations, sulphur springs venting plumes of mineral-rich steam, and fishing villages where Friday-night street parties spill across the road to the beat of soca and calypso. The charter fleet serving St Lucia numbers over 50 vessels, from motor yachts of 68′-98′ and superyachts above 100′ to luxury catamarans from 55′, primarily based at Rodney Bay Marina and Marigot Bay. Peak season runs December through April, with trade winds of 12 to 18 knots and daytime highs around 29 °C; November and May bring shoulder-season value with warmer water and gentler rates.
Daily rates start from $5,600 on a luxury catamaran and from $10,200 on latest-model yachts above 89′, plus APA of typically 25 to 35%. St Lucia’s singular draw is the Pitons anchorage itself, dropping anchor between those twin peaks at sunset, with a rum punch in hand, is one of yachting’s most unforgettable moments.
