For the peak October to March summer season, five to seven months’ lead time is recommended, with demand highest over Christmas, New Year, and the Australia Day long weekend (January). The shoulder months of April to May and September offer warm days, whale-watching opportunities, and broader yacht availability, and can often be arranged three to four months ahead.
The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard on-board equipment including the tender and snorkelling gear. Fuel, provisions, beverages, mooring fees, and any excursions are funded through the APA (30 to 35% of the charter fee). Australian GST at 10% applies. Perth’s proximity to the Margaret River wine region and Fremantle’s fishing harbour means provisioning is outstanding, and any unspent APA is refunded.
Absolutely, and it’s the classic Perth yacht itinerary. Rottnest lies just 10 nautical miles from Fremantle, making a round-trip easily achievable in a long weekend or combining seamlessly with a multi-day coastal cruise south to Shoalwater and Rockingham. Your Boatcrowd broker arranges Rottnest mooring permits, Fremantle berths, and provisioning from the local fishing fleet.
Perth is an excellent family charter base. Rottnest Island’s calm bays provide safe, shallow swimming and gentle snorkelling, and the chance to photograph the famously friendly quokkas delights children of every age. The calm waters of the Swan River offer paddleboarding and kayaking close to shore, and crews are experienced at adapting menus, pace, and activities for younger guests.
Yacht charter Perth opens up Western Australia’s sun-blessed Indian Ocean coastline, a stretch of dazzling white sand where the turquoise shallows of Rottnest Island shelter playful quokkas just 10 nautical miles offshore, bottlenose dolphins surf the bow wave in Cockburn Sound, and the Swan River winds past Kings Park’s wildflower-blanketed hillside into the heart of Australia’s most isolated capital. Perth draws from over 40 charter yachts in Australian waters: 68′-98′ motor yachts that cruise the Swan River and the protected waters behind Garden Island, 100′+ superyachts suited to the Indian Ocean coastline south toward the Shoalwater Islands, and 55′+ catamarans whose shallow drafts open up the turquoise bays and rocky snorkelling coves of Rottnest’s Basin and Little Salmon Bay.
October to April is peak season, long, sun-drenched days of 28 to 35°C, the Fremantle Doctor sea breeze tempering the afternoons, and water temperatures climbing above 22°C for comfortable swimming. The shoulder months of May and September bring milder warmth, migrating humpback whales, and softer pricing. Daily rates start from $7,500/day, climbing to $12,500+/day on superyachts above 89′, plus 10% Australian GST and 30 to 35% APA for fuel, provisions, and mooring fees. Perth’s unique allure is the sense of frontier luxury, a modern city with superb restaurants and wine from the Margaret River region, yet the Indian Ocean at its doorstep feels genuinely uncrowded, with Rottnest’s bays and the Shoalwater Marine Park offering the kind of clear-water solitude usually associated with far more remote destinations.
