About Althea
Twin Caterpillar C-32 engines and a classification survey from RINA are the two facts that describe how Althea is engineered: for range and long days at sea rather than short hops. Admiral delivered her in 2021, and a refit at Monaco Marine in 2025 kept her machinery current.
Build and provenance
She is an aluminium-hulled build from Admiral, classed by RINA, and drawn inside and out by Gian Marco Campanino. At 48 metres, 157 feet, with a beam of 8.8 metres, she carries 499 gross tonnes. A refit at Monaco Marine in 2025 covered technical and aesthetic work and updated her machinery, so parts of her engineering are newer than her 2021 delivery date on their own would suggest.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests are accommodated across five staterooms, with the full-beam owner's suite forward on the main deck and four further guest cabins below, each with its own ensuite. A crew of ten works from separate, fully enclosed quarters forward, a arrangement that keeps a full guest list looked after without crew crossing into guest areas. The main salon opens onto the aft deck for dining and lounging, under floor-to-ceiling windows that keep the sea in view.
Performance and engineering
Althea's two Caterpillar C-32 engines cruise at 12 knots and reach 19 knots flat out, figures that mark her as a displacement yacht built to cover distance efficiently rather than to arrive quickly. A 3,300-nautical-mile range and a draught of 2.15 metres back that up, and two 99 kW Kohler generators keep her systems running at anchor as well as under way. Stabilisers at anchor and under way hold her steady through both.
On deck and at anchor
A beach club opens onto a swimming platform at the stern for direct access to the water at anchor. Wi-Fi and air conditioning run throughout, and a tender garage keeps toys and gear out of sight, leaving the deck itself uncluttered.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
