Shipyard Netherlands est. 1963
Moonen Yachts for Charter
Willem Moonen founded the yard in 's-Hertogenbosch, in the south of the Netherlands, in 1963, and it took the Moonen Yachts name in 1981. It began with smaller commercial and leisure craft and moved steadily into semi-custom and custom motor yachts in steel and aluminium.

About the shipyard
The Martinique series, developed with René van der Velden and Vripack, became the yard's signature: a displacement motor yacht of about 36m that brings Dutch build quality to a length most owners would otherwise buy from an Italian production line. A second yard at Groot-Ammers, opened in 2008, gave it the space to build to 45m.
In July 2019 the yard was declared bankrupt after the accounts of its owner, the Mexican steel group AHMSA, were frozen. Within weeks it was bought by Matthew and Louise Baxter, an Australian couple who had come across a Moonen while cruising Pittwater near Sydney, and most of the workforce stayed on.

Where Moonen Yachts charter
Moonen Yachts: common questions
- How many Moonen Yachts can I charter?
- We currently list 5 of them available for charter, across 12 countries. Availability moves week to week, so ask us for live dates on any yacht that interests you.
- What size are the Moonen Yachts yachts on Boatcrowd?
- They run from 34m to 38m. Larger yachts carry more crew and more space per guest rather than simply more guests, so tell us your group size and we will point you at the right end of the range.
- Is Moonen still building yachts?
- Yes. New owners bought the yard out of bankruptcy in 2019 and it has carried on building in the Netherlands, so the yachts on the market run from long-established hulls to recent launches.
