Holidays and school breaks that suit these waters
For the peak April to October dry season, five to seven months’ lead time is recommended, with July and August the most competitive months. Christmas and New Year also see increased demand from families combining Lombok with Bali. Green-season charters from November to March can often be arranged three to four months ahead at softer rates and with wider vessel choice.
Yes, it’s one of the most popular short itineraries in Indonesia. The Bali-Gili Islands-Lombok loop takes three to four days with generous stops for snorkelling, turtle encounters, and Sasak village visits. Extending eastward to Sumbawa and Komodo adds a spectacular multi-day adventure. Your Boatcrowd broker designs the routing around your interests and handles all port clearances.
The base fee covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard equipment including snorkelling gear and the tender. Fuel, provisions, beverages, port fees, and any dive-guide or cultural-excursion costs are funded through the APA (30 to 35% of the charter fee). Indonesian VAT at 11% applies to the base rate, and any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
Lombok and the Gili Islands are wonderful for families. The calm, shallow waters around Gili Meno are ideal for young snorkellers, green turtles frequent the seagrass beds just metres from the beach, and the car-free island atmosphere keeps things relaxed and safe. Crews are experienced at adapting menus, pace, and water activities to suit younger children, making it one of Indonesia’s most family-friendly charter destinations.
Yacht charter Lombok reveals Bali’s quieter, wilder neighbour, an island dominated by the towering volcanic cone of Mount Rinjani at 3,726 metres, where deserted south-coast surf breaks pound black-sand beaches, the three Gili Islands offer gin-clear snorkelling over turtle-rich reefs, and traditional Sasak weaving villages carry on a craft unchanged for centuries. Lombok draws from Indonesia’s fleet of over 40 charter yachts: traditional Phinisi yachts of 110′-165′ whose teak decks and shaded aft lounges were built for this climate, 68′-98′ motor yachts berthed at nearby Bali or Senggigi, 100′+ superyachts, and 55′+ catamarans perfect for the shallow, reef-fringed anchorages of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air.
April to October is peak season, dry trade winds, 27 to 29°C water, and underwater visibility exceeding 25 metres around the Gilis. November to March is the green season with warmer water, quieter anchorages, and more negotiable rates. Daily rates start from approximately $4,500/day on a Phinisi or motor yacht, climbing to $9,000+/day on superyachts, plus 11% Indonesian VAT and 30 to 35% APA for fuel, provisions, and island-hopping permits. Lombok’s special allure lies in its rawer, less-polished edge, an island where you can snorkel with green turtles on a reef with no other boat in sight, hike waterfalls hidden in the rainforest flanks of Rinjani, and dine on freshly caught barramundi grilled over coconut husks on a beach where your footprints are the only ones in the sand.
