Day Charter Routes from Lombok

Gili Islands Highlights: Turtles, Reefs and Three Islands in One Day

Depart from Teluk Nare or Medana Bay by 08:00 and cruise to Gili Air – the closest of the three main Gilis, roughly 15 minutes by motor yacht. Morning snorkel at Gili Air’s house reef, where hard coral gardens and schools of reef fish crowd the shallows. Continue to Gili Meno for a swim over the Nest underwater sculpture – 48 life-size human figures standing in a circle on the seabed, now colonised by coral and marine life. Lunch aboard between Meno and Trawangan, then an afternoon snorkel at Turtle Point on Gili Trawangan’s north-east side: green and hawksbill sea turtles graze on seagrass in 2–4 metres of calm, clear water. Take the tender ashore for a cold coconut at one of Trawangan’s beachfront warungs before the return cruise to Lombok, arriving by 17:00. A perfect single-day introduction to the Gili Islands.

Secret Gilis: Sekotong’s Hidden Islands

Depart from Lombok’s south-west coast (or from Marina Del Ray on Gili Gede) by 08:00 and cruise into Sekotong Bay’s chain of tiny, uncrowded islands. First stop: Gili Nanggu, for a snorkel over vibrant coral in calm, sheltered water. Continue to Gili Kedis – an island so small you can walk its perimeter in five minutes – for a swim in turquoise shallows and a beach picnic prepared by your crew. Afternoon at Gili Layar for diving or deeper snorkelling over colourful coral gardens with excellent fish diversity. Return to base by late afternoon, having visited three pristine islands without seeing another charter vessel. 3-Day Lombok Yacht Charter Itinerary: Gili Islands and Secret Gilis

Day 1

Lombok to the Gili Islands

Board your yacht at Teluk Nare, Medana Bay or Bangsal harbour by mid-morning. After the welcome briefing and an Indonesian lunch on deck – nasi goreng, fresh prawn crackers and tropical fruit – cruise to the Gili Islands, roughly 15–30 minutes depending on departure point. Anchor between Gili Air and Gili Meno in turquoise water over white sand. Afternoon snorkel at Gili Air’s house reef: hard coral gardens alive with angelfish, butterflyfish and the occasional reef shark at the drop-off. As the light softens, cruise to Gili Meno’s western side and drop in for a late-afternoon swim over the Nest sculpture, the human figures eerily beautiful in the golden underwater light. Dinner on the aft deck as the sun sets behind Bali’s distant silhouette, Mount Agung just visible on the western horizon.

Day 2

Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno

A full day exploring the two larger islands. Morning dive or snorkel at Shark Point on Gili Trawangan’s south side – white-tip and black-tip reef sharks circle the Glenn Nusa wreck, and large schools of snappers, sweetlips and trevally swirl through the structure. Surface for brunch, then take the tender ashore to Gili Trawangan for a bicycle ride along the quiet western coast – white-sand beaches, no cars, no motorbikes, just the creak of pedals and the sound of waves. After lunch aboard, cruise to Turtle Heaven off Gili Meno’s north-east coast: a pinnacle dive from 10 to 30 metres where hawksbill and green turtles cruise among dense coral. In the late afternoon, visit the Gili Meno turtle sanctuary ashore, where rescued and rehabilitated sea turtles are prepared for release. Your chef prepares ayam taliwang – Lombok’s signature sweet-spicy chicken – on the upper deck as Mount Rinjani glows copper in the fading light.

Day 3

Secret Gilis and Return

Depart the main Gilis after breakfast and cruise south-west around Lombok’s coast to Sekotong Bay and the Secret Gilis – roughly 90 minutes. Morning snorkel at Gili Nanggu’s pristine reef, then a beach picnic on tiny Gili Kedis – the whole island is yours. After lunch, a final snorkel at Gili Layar over colourful coral gardens. Return to your departure harbour by late afternoon – roughly 60 minutes from Sekotong – for car transfers to the airport or onward travel. Guests continuing east can extend into a Sumbawa and Komodo charter from here.

Day 1

Lombok to the Gili Islands

Board at Teluk Nare or Medana Bay by mid-morning. After the welcome briefing, cruise to the Gili Islands and anchor off Gili Air. Afternoon snorkel at Gili Air’s house reef – gentle coral slopes in warm, clear water with schools of reef fish, blue-spotted rays and the occasional turtle. Explore the island’s beachfront on foot (30 minutes covers the entire circumference) and settle into a yoga studio or beachside warung for a cold drink. Return to the yacht for dinner as the first stars appear above the Gilis.

Day 2

Gili Trawangan, Shark Point and Gili Meno

Morning dive at Shark Point – reef sharks, the Glenn Nusa wreck and dense schools of fish in the currents. Surface for brunch and take the tender to Gili Trawangan for a bicycle ride along the western beach. After lunch aboard, cruise to Gili Meno for the Nest underwater sculpture snorkel and a visit to Turtle Heaven – the pinnacle dive site where turtles are so abundant they barely notice your presence. Late afternoon at the turtle sanctuary ashore, then back to the phinisi for dinner and stargazing from the upper deck.

Day 3

South Lombok Coast

Depart the Gilis after breakfast and cruise south along Lombok’s dramatic west coast – volcanic ridges dropping into deep blue water with Mount Rinjani’s 3,726-metre peak rising behind. Round the south-west corner to Lombok’s spectacular south coast beaches, accessible by tender from an offshore anchorage. Tanjung Aan’s round bay of white sand is the headline stop – sheltered, beautiful and backed by green headlands. Your crew sets up a beach lunch while you swim and explore. In the afternoon, visit the traditional Sasak village of Sade for a guided walk through the lumbung rice barns and a weaving demonstration. Return to the phinisi anchored offshore for dinner as the Southern Cross appears over the Indian Ocean.

Day 4

Secret Gilis and Return

A morning cruise north-west to Sekotong Bay’s Secret Gilis. Snorkel Gili Nanggu’s vibrant reef in calm, sheltered water, swim in the turquoise shallows of tiny Gili Kedis and finish with a dive or deeper snorkel at Gili Layar. Your crew prepares a farewell brunch on a pristine beach – just your group, a table in the sand and the sound of wavelets on the shore. Return to Lombok’s north-west harbours by late afternoon for car transfers to the airport (approximately 90 minutes south) or continue east toward Sumbawa and Komodo.
