With a compact fleet of around 10 vessels and a short May to September season, booking nine to twelve months ahead is strongly recommended. July and August, the peak months for whale watching, bear viewing, and long daylight hours, fill fastest, and the best expedition superyachts are often reserved a full year in advance.
Yes. Glacier Bay National Park limits the number of private vessels allowed entry each day during the summer season, and permits must be secured well in advance through the National Park Service. Your Boatcrowd broker handles all Glacier Bay permit applications, ensuring your preferred dates and itinerary are locked in.
The base rate covers the yacht, expedition crew, insurance, and specialist equipment including zodiacs, kayaks, fishing gear, and cold-weather clothing. Fuel, provisions, beverages, national-park fees, and expedition-guide services are funded through the APA (30 to 35% of the charter fee). Alaska levies no state sales tax, and any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
Alaska is a phenomenal family destination for children old enough to enjoy zodiac excursions, glacier hikes, and wildlife spotting, typically ages six and above. Watching humpback whales breach at close range, seeing grizzlies fish for salmon, and kayaking past icebergs are experiences children remember for a lifetime. Crews are experienced with families and can tailor pace, meals, and daily activities to suit the group.
