Local knowledgeThe amihan trade season unlocks Palawan's lagoons and El Nido's karst cathedrals: seven thousand islands, most without another yacht in sight.
Holidays and school breaks that suit these waters
For the peak November to April window, six to nine months’ lead time is strongly recommended, Palawan’s growing popularity means the best yachts fill early, especially over Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year. May and October offer excellent conditions with more availability and can often be secured four to five months ahead.
The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard equipment including snorkelling gear and the tender. Fuel, provisions, beverages, marine-park entry fees, and any dive-guide services are funded through the APA (30 to 35% of the charter fee). Philippine VAT at 12% applies to the base rate, and any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
Yes, and it’s one of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular itineraries. The classic Palawan itinerary sails from El Nido north through the Linapacan Strait to Coron, a multi-day passage past hidden lagoons, pristine reefs, and Japanese World War II shipwrecks. Your Boatcrowd broker can design a route that balances sailing time with ample swimming, snorkelling, and island exploration.
Palawan is wonderfully family-friendly. The calm, sheltered lagoons of the Bacuit archipelago offer warm, shallow water ideal for young swimmers and first-time snorkellers, and encounters with sea turtles, starfish, and colourful reef fish captivate children of every age. On-board crews are experienced at tailoring menus, daily pace, and snorkelling sessions to suit younger travellers and first-time explorers.
Yacht charter Palawan takes you to the island consistently voted one of the most beautiful in the world, a 450-kilometre sliver of jungle-clad limestone stretching between the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea, where secret lagoons hide behind towering karst walls, the UNESCO-listed Puerto Princesa Underground River winds through cathedral-scale caverns, and manta rays cruise the nutrient-rich waters off the northern tip. Around 15 charter yachts service Palawan’s waters as part of the wider Philippine fleet, including 68′-98′ motor yachts with drafts shallow enough to nose into hidden lagoons, 100′+ superyachts carrying dive equipment and water-toy arsenals, and 55′+ catamarans offering stable platforms for reef snorkelling and family cruising. November to May is prime season, calm seas, 30°C sunshine, and underwater visibility that frequently exceeds 25 metres across the Bacuit archipelago and Tubbataha Reef. The shoulder months of June and October bring slightly warmer water, quieter anchorages, and more negotiable rates. Daily rates start from approximately $3,000/day plus 12% Philippine VAT and 30 to 35% APA covering fuel, provisions, and marine-park entry. Palawan’s defining quality is a sense of exploration that rivals the Galápagos, you can anchor in a lagoon where your yacht is the only vessel in sight, snorkel above a pristine reef minutes later, and dine on freshly caught lapu-lapu grilled over coconut husks as fireflies light up the mangrove canopy at dusk.
