About sailing yachts in Poland
Poland's yacht market is, in practice, Gdansk. Sailing yachts are a different proposition from the motor fleet and a different market. Lengths among the sailing yachts listed in Poland run from 18 m to 43 m. The ports they are lying at include Gdansk. Four of them are in build.

Buying in Poland
- VAT and tax
- Poland is in the EU VAT area, and its standard VAT rate is 23% as at September 2026. A VAT-paid yacht has EU customs (Union) status: it is in free circulation in the EU with VAT settled. A non-EU-flagged yacht owned by a person established outside the EU can generally use temporary admission for up to 18 months without paying import duty or VAT, provided it is kept for private pleasure use. Read our VAT and tax guide
- Flag and registration
- Yachts under 24 metres are registered through the electronic REJA24 system, run by district authorities (starosta) and sports associations; applicants without a Polish PESEL number can apply through an agent. Yachts of 24 metres and over fall outside REJA24 and go on the Polish Ship Register under the Maritime Code of 2001. About 95% of Polish yacht production goes to foreign customers, so many Polish-built yachts are registered and kept abroad.
- Berths
- Polish coastal marinas are built mainly for yachts under 20 metres, and dedicated berths over 24 metres are scarce. Marina Yacht Park, in the President Basin of the Port of Gdynia, has 144 berths, the largest for yachts up to 20 metres, with depth for draughts up to 8 metres; entry needs permission from the Captain of the Port. Of around 300 Polish harbours, only 16 are reachable from the sea, with the main facilities at Szczecin, Gdynia and Gdansk.
- Refit and survey
- Poland is a major yacht building country: the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) describes it as Europe's leading producer, with about 25,000 yachts and boats a year and vessels of up to 44 metres. Sunreef Yachts builds catamarans from 50 feet to superyachts over 100 feet at two yards in Gdansk, with a 300-ton floating crane and in-house mechanical and electrical service. Galeon is among the other established Polish builders.
- When to view
- The Baltic cruising season is the northern summer, and Marina Yacht Park in Gdynia runs its summer season from 1 May to 31 October. The Polboat Yachting Festival, Poland's largest yacht show, was held at Marina Yacht Park from 23 to 26 July 2026. Because about 95% of production is exported, a Polish-built yacht may be viewable at the yard before delivery or at its owner's home port abroad.

Questions buyers ask
How does buying a yacht through Boatcrowd work?
You tell us which yacht interests you through the enquiry form on her listing. We confirm she is still available at the price shown, collect the documents the seller holds, and arrange a viewing wherever she is lying. From there the usual sequence is an offer subject to survey and sea trial, a deposit held in a client account, the survey and trial themselves, and then closing and registration. The Boatcrowd team coordinates each step and stays with you through it.
What does the VAT status on a listing mean?
VAT paid means European Union value added tax has been settled on the yacht and she can be used privately in EU waters without a further liability arising from that. VAT unpaid means it has not been settled, which suits a buyer who will keep the yacht outside the EU or import her under an arrangement of their own. The difference is a significant part of the asking price, so it is worth establishing before an offer is made. Where the seller has given us the status, it is printed on the listing.
Why do some listings say Price on Request?
Because the seller has chosen not to publish a figure. It is common at the top of the market and on yachts that have only just come available, and it says nothing about where the price sits in either direction. Send an enquiry from the listing and the Boatcrowd team will come back to you with the number and with what it includes.
Do I need a survey and a sea trial?
On any yacht that has been in the water, yes. A survey establishes the condition of the hull, the machinery and the systems, and a sea trial shows how she actually behaves at operating speed and at anchor. Offers are normally made subject to both, so the findings can be discussed before anything is final. On a yacht in build the equivalent is the yard's own sequence of inspections and the handover trials at the end of it.
