Blue Griffin Luxury Catamaran

Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prevost shaped the interior of Blue Griffin, a 62ft (19m) luxury catamaran built by Lagoon in 2011 and refitted in 2019.

Comfort under way

Eight knots is her steady pace and 10 knots her maximum, so she covers a coast at the speed of the water rather than the engine; air conditioning runs through the cabins and the saloon, keeping the inside of her cool.

On deck

Most of her living happens outdoors: the flybridge is generous, the foredeck carries a lounge of its own, the aft deck sits in shade, and a table is laid for meals in the open air. The swim platform puts the sea a step away.

Water toys

A stand-up paddleboard, a wakeboard, windsurfing gear and snorkelling kit travel with her, so there is something for paddlers, for riders and for anyone happier with a mask on.

Where she cruises

Blue Griffin's home port is San Blas, in Panama. Her cruising range covers Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador and French Polynesia, four grounds rather than a single coast.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins, each with a queen bed, sleep eight guests, and eight is also her number for a day on the water. A crew of three looks after them, so the cooking and the running of her fall to someone else.

Charter notes

A full week is the usual charter, though she also takes a three-day hire, and she is in most demand in January, February, March and December. She suits a family or a group of friends, eight at most, who would rather be in the water than covering distance.
