About flybridge yachts in Hong Kong
The cruising is local and varied: the islands and anchorages of Sai Kung and Port Shelter to the east, the Ninepin Group beyond them, and the outlying islands to the south and west, all within a short run of the city. The flybridge is the deck that sold a generation of motor yachts. Lengths among the flybridge yachts listed in Hong Kong run from 16 m to 39 m. The ports they are lying at include Hong Kong.
Buying in Hong Kong
- VAT and tax
- Hong Kong is not in the EU and has no VAT, GST or general sales tax as at September 2026. Customs and Excise collects duty on four types of dutiable commodity only (liquor, tobacco, certain hydrocarbon oil and methyl alcohol), and a yacht is not among them. Read our VAT and tax guide
- Flag and registration
- A Certificate of Ownership and an Operating Licence from the Marine Department are needed before a vessel operates in Hong Kong waters, with third party risk insurance of at least HK$5,000,000, and the skipper must hold a local Pleasure Vessel Operator certificate. A pleasure vessel of more than 150 gross tonnage and at least 24 metres first needs an Approval-in-Principle letter from the Director of Marine before plan approval and survey.
- Berths
- Lantau Yacht Club at Discovery Bay has 148 wet berths in a marina designed for yachts up to 100 metres; the Gold Coast Yacht and Country Club at Tuen Mun takes yachts up to 200 feet on its pontoons; Hong Kong Marina in Sai Kung has 190 berths including superyacht berths from 80 to over 100 feet. Berths for yachts over 70 metres are few, and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and Aberdeen Marina Club are long-established member clubs.
- Refit and survey
- Haul-out and repair in Hong Kong is found at the clubs and marinas: Hebe Haven Yacht Club in Sai Kung offers slipping, craning and boat repair, and Hong Kong Marina arranges maintenance, hull, rigging and refit work through partner firms. Industry guides list the region's larger superyacht refit facilities in Singapore and at Batam in Indonesia.
- When to view
- Hong Kong is cruised all year, but May to November are the months in which tropical cyclones may strike, with July to September the most likely; November and December are sunny with pleasant breezes. The Festa Nautica show at Lantau Yacht Club runs from 6 to 8 November 2026, and the Hong Kong International Boat Show at Club Marina Cove in Sai Kung is scheduled for December 2026.

Questions buyers ask
How does buying a yacht through Boatcrowd work?
You tell us which yacht interests you through the enquiry form on her listing. We confirm she is still available at the price shown, collect the documents the seller holds, and arrange a viewing wherever she is lying. From there the usual sequence is an offer subject to survey and sea trial, a deposit held in a client account, the survey and trial themselves, and then closing and registration. The Boatcrowd team coordinates each step and stays with you through it.
What does the VAT status on a listing mean?
VAT paid means European Union value added tax has been settled on the yacht and she can be used privately in EU waters without a further liability arising from that. VAT unpaid means it has not been settled, which suits a buyer who will keep the yacht outside the EU or import her under an arrangement of their own. The difference is a significant part of the asking price, so it is worth establishing before an offer is made. Where the seller has given us the status, it is printed on the listing.
Why do some listings say Price on Request?
Because the seller has chosen not to publish a figure. It is common at the top of the market and on yachts that have only just come available, and it says nothing about where the price sits in either direction. Send an enquiry from the listing and the Boatcrowd team will come back to you with the number and with what it includes.
Do I need a survey and a sea trial?
On any yacht that has been in the water, yes. A survey establishes the condition of the hull, the machinery and the systems, and a sea trial shows how she actually behaves at operating speed and at anchor. Offers are normally made subject to both, so the findings can be discussed before anything is final. On a yacht in build the equivalent is the yard's own sequence of inspections and the handover trials at the end of it.
