Maximus Motor Yacht

Maximus burns 600 litres of fuel an hour, a figure worth knowing before a week aboard because it fixes what each hour of moving costs in fuel rather than leaving it to guesswork. Riva built this 98ft (30m) motor yacht in 2021.

Water toys

Seven toys come with her: a Seabob, a single paddleboard, water skis and a wakeboard to be towed, gear for snorkelling and gear for fishing, so the guest who wants to be pulled along at speed and the guest who would rather hang still in the water and look down are both provided for. Her 13ft Williams tender is the boat that carries guests ashore and brings them back to her.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Naples in Italy, with a second base at Cannes in France, so a charter with her can begin from either. The waters she works are those of Italy, France and Malta.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep ten guests overnight and twelve can be aboard by day, July and August being the months of her peak season. A crew of five looks after the ten, so there is a crew member for every two guests who sleep aboard, and the cabins are air-conditioned for the nights at anchor.

Comfort under way

Maximus cruises at 20 knots and reaches 26 knots flat out, which for a guest means fewer hours spent moving between stops.

On deck

A swim platform puts the sea a step from the deck, and it is the simplest way off her and into the water for a guest who would rather not wait for the tender.

Charter notes

She is let by the week, with 3 days the shortest hire she takes. Three of her five cabins are doubles and two are twins, a split that gives two couples a double each and still leaves a double and two twins for the rest of a family party sharing Maximus.
