About Velocity

Alberto Mancini drew the profile of Velocity, an all-aluminium Mangusta GranSport 54 finished in 2020 and built to circle the globe, and it is that pairing of speed with long range that shapes a week aboard her: she can cross to a distant coast quickly and keep going once she is there. At 177ft (54m) she is a superyacht laid out for extended voyages as readily as for short outings.

Comfort under way

Her stabilisers have a zero-speed setting for the hours she lies at anchor and carry on working once she is moving, which takes the roll out of her at rest and on passage alike. She cruises at 14 knots and holds 20 knots in reserve for the days with real distance to put behind her, and her aluminium hull was drawn with seakeeping as much as pace in mind.

On deck

From the oversized jacuzzi on her foredeck, enclosed in glass, the view is of open sea in every direction. Her decks are broad, with several places to lounge and several to eat outside, and the sky lounge joins its interior to the open air. The beach club is air-conditioned and opens out with platforms at her sides, a transom that folds down and a wide swim platform, which puts the water within a step.

Water toys

Ten toys travel with her. Two Seadoo jet skis put two riders on the water together, two Seabob F9S are carried alongside them, and two paddleboards give two more people a slower way across the anchorage, while water skis, a wakeboard and towables wait for whoever would rather be pulled along. There is snorkelling gear for looking beneath the surface, and a 21ft Castoldi jet tender runs guests ashore.

Where she cruises

Monte Carlo in Monaco is her home port, and from there Velocity works France, Italy and Spain and reaches Malta, five countries of harbours, bays and coastline to choose between.

Accommodation and crew

Six cabins – a king, three doubles and two twins – sleep twelve guests, and twelve is also her limit by day. A crew of eleven looks after them, with July and August the height of her season, and that is very nearly a crew member for each guest. The master suite takes the full beam of the main deck behind large tinted windows, and a hydraulic balcony folds down from its side as a terrace over the water; the three double staterooms are on the lower deck and share the same light, airy finish.

Charter notes

Velocity suits two couples or a family of up to twelve who want to see more than a single bay, and she takes a charter of three days at the shortest as well as a full week, so a shorter hire is open to a party with less time in hand.
